Neill Blomkamp(photograph unavailable) As of right now, I've only seen one movie by this commercial / short movie director - Alive in Joburg, with a Google Video link at the bottom of the page - and I really liked what I saw. Go check that movie and more of his work.

Since this last post, I've seen all of Blomkamp's work except his fifteen minute TempBot, all of which are available on either YouTube or Google Video, and most are shorter than Alive in Joberg, so they're easy enough to watch. My overall thoughts are: wow, this guy can direct a fucking movie. My thoughts to Universal Studios and 20th Century Fox: Don't worry about Blomkamp. Bring him back and give him the budget he needs, and he'll give you a Halo movie that will wash away the Uwe Bolls and the Paul WS Andersons (PWSA, not PTA) of this planet. There is plenty to discuss concerning Alive in Joberg alone. sacrilegend, I know that downloading things can be a bit of a problem, but I think you might really dig Alive in Joberg, if only because it takes place in Johannesburg. (Oh yeah, is "Joberg" a nickname for Johannesburg?) How about them aliens? Don't cthulhu aliens win hard? Isn't the idea that aliens integrated into our society, but then found themselves extremely poor and sickly seem really interesting?
And how about those analogies? His commercials are also pretty sweet, although they didn't make me want to go out and buy new shoes, a new car, or a yellow brain case. So maybe they didn't work out, but commercials can still be entertaining, though, I think. Nike just supported the creation of some of his shorts, that doesn't necessarily invalidate those shorts as being propaganda movies.

Alive in Joberg was really interesting, everyone should definitely check it out. There are some very creative things used in the film. Cool concept as well.
