I'm going to make an effort to listen to more albums this year. At least two or three a month. We'll see... Looking forward to then new Springsteen and Franz Ferdinand this month, and the new Morrissey in February.

Yeah, I only listened to about fifteen albums total last year, so I figure maybe I can get it up to twenty-five or thirty. Heh.

I'm trying to hear more than 40 this year. That was pretty pathetic, especially since I heard the majority of the albums in late December.
1. Animal Collective- Merriweather Post Pavilion 2. Umphrey's McGee- Mantis 3. Bruce Springsteen- Working on a Dream 4. Antony and the Johnsons- The Crying Light 5. Andrew Bird- Noble Beast 6. John Frusciante- The Empyrean

1. The Great Escape by The Rifles 2. No Line on the Horizon by U2 (Everything on this record, apart from the horrendous single, is great. Probably their best album of the decade, and maybe the best since Achtung Baby) 3. Years of Refusal by Morrissey 4. Songs About Time: Chapter One: The Story of A Thousand Seasons Past (EP) by The Rentals (Really good. Much better than the Last Little Life EP. Probably around Seven More Minutes quality.) 5. Scrambles by Bomb the Music Industry! (Very fun ska. "Stuff That I Like" is one of their best songs.) 6. Tonight: Franz Ferdinand by Franz Ferdinand 7. The Pains of Being Pure At Heart by The Pains of Being Pure At Heart 8. Working on a Dream by Bruce Springsteen 9. Not Without A Fight by New Found Glory (A bit of a disappointment. Last year's Tip of the Iceberg EP was better.) 10. Mama, I'm Swollen by Cursive (HUGE disappointment. Their worst album, easily.) 11. The Mountain by Heartless Bastards

I know I completely owned 2008 music, and not just andruini has told me so, but as a result of winning the 2008 crown, I've completely and utterly lost any interest in new music. There's overkill, there's saturation, there's being overwhelmed, there's a complete disregard for sanity and then there's what I did with 2008. On that note, my 2009 albums: 1. Runaljod: Gap var Ginnunga by Wardruna (Yeah, I know, another weird one. This thing was like #3 on the RYM Top Albums of 2009 for a month, though, so it wasn't obscure.) Animal Collective - Merriweather Post Pavilion Platinum Pied Pipers - Abundance YMCK - Family Cooking Neko Case - People Got a Lotta Nerve [single] The What CD Volume 3 [I'd hook a brutha up if I could] I decided that at a maximum, I would only hear about 25 albums made in 2009, in 2009. So far, I've been spinning about ten to twenty complete albums per month, new and old.

Now you don't like Raditude at all? It's not amazing, but it's still a fun album (and that's what they were going for, so I wouldn't call it not good). And if you include the Deluxe Edition (which you can) then it definitely has a decent number of really good songs.

I like it, but it's easily their weakest album. I only really dislike Let it All Hang Out and In the Mall (and Get Me Some if we're talking deluxe). I totally love Can't Stop Partying, Tripping Down the Freeway, I Don't Want to Let You Go, Run Over By a Truck, Prettiest Girl, and The Underdogs, but could take or leave the rest. 6 out of 14 isn't particularly great. Plus, the whole idea of the album just irritates me, and I feel it's a significant step back from the songwriting Rivers was displaying on the best parts of Red (Greatest Man, Angel, Pig, Sweeny, Spider). Still, they're my favorite band, so I'll still listen to and find a way to enjoy even a weak album from them.
