The World Cup started today. I may not be quite as regular a visitor to these fine pages over the next 4 weeks.
Who's gonna win? I'm English so Come on Enger-land. Dark horses may well be Ecuador, Serbia & Montenegro and Switzerland.

I'm rooting for Germany. I don't know why, I'm not even German.

England 1 - Paraguay 0. England played woefully in 2nd half (surprise surprise) & Eriksson made some bizarre substitutions. The man is tactically inept.
What about Fring's goal for Germany in the opening match? Goal of the century?

Good first game for Mexico. Close 1st half but Mex too strong in 2nd. Yep, England game was awful. Like I said, Eriksson is tactically inept.

Thought Angola played hard for each other & were good at keeping possession. Lacking in front of goal though. Portugal capable of technically dazzling but don't always gel as a team. They have best manager in the world though so should do OK.
What about Holland? Did they forget it was a football match?

12th June.
Czech Rep. 3 - USA 0. Best performance yet by a team. I think Czech's may win! USA didn't play badly and were unlucky in 1st half.
Australia 3 - Japan 1. Good on yer' mate.
Italy 2 - Ghana 0. Ghana plyed well in first half. Essien outstanding. Italy look lazy to me. Do not think they will beat Czech Rep.
Looking forward to seeing France tomorrow.

How the mighty have fallen! Brazil were a shadow of their former selves. And Ronaldo has definately eaten all the pies.
Just watched Germany luckily beat a very brave Poland. Still fancy the Czech's.

I thought Trinidad and Tobago put up a good fight against England, the 2-0 score is deceiving.

Real tough loss for Paraguay. I was kinda rooting for them too, o well. Lets hope Sweden gets that draw against England so that they can advance.

Ya, I dig soccer (as it is called here), especially during the Word Cup. I am one of the few Americans who think its very fun to watch.

The American team was impressive in Korea, during the last world cup, but it won't be easy to defeat Italy.

I was rooting for Italy in the first half, and in the end I wanted a tie because the referee was screwing both teams here. Good match tho.

Wow. Group E is wide open. I still fancy the Czech's. Rumour has it that Ronaldo hung his shorts out to dry and Munich lost 3 hours daylight.

LOL!! Ronaldo is massive. But Brazil should be able to make up for it. USA at least fought out a tie, but we need a lot of help plus a victory to get to the next round.

Japan 0-Croatia-0 Excellent goalkeeping effort for Kawaguchi, but otherwise a pretty dull match. Neither of these teams are second round material
Brazil 2- Austrailia 0 A little better of an effort for Brazil today. They advance to the round of 16 for the tenth straight time.
