I have to see more of him myself. The Cook, the Thief... is just so absorbing and delicate. You know, it`s one of those films that no matter how bad the plot is (though it is very good in this film, do not get me wrong) it`s so utterly fantastic. A must see for you, Nomansvally!
Note on Norwegian to my friend Nomansvally: Tror du vil like den svært godt, tatt i betrakning hvordan, fra min synsvinkel, din filmsmak ser ut.

Pardon the Norwegian, fellas!

Ja, har sett Knife in the Water. Back to the english now, ay?

Excellent lists... But I found Naked Lunch far from ze masterpiece many people think it is. I can see the appeal, though. It did just not grab me by the balls. Here`s my list, btw. I guess it`s not necessary to put it here, since you`ve all seen it, but whatever... I just feel like it. Smultronstället (Ingmar Bergman) 1957 Chinatown (Roman Polanski) 1974 Taxi Driver (Martin Scorsese) 1976 Goodfellas (Martin Scorsese) 1990 Touch of Evil (Orson Welles) 1958 C`era una volta il West (Sergio Leone) 1968 Elephant Man, the (David Lynch) 1980 Repulsion (Roman Polanski) 1965 Det Sjunde Inseglet (Ingmar Bergman) 1957 12 Angry Men (Sidney Lumet) 1957 Sunset Blvd. (Billy Wilder) 1950 Godfather, the (Francis Ford Coppola) 1972 C`est arrivè près de chez vous (Bonoìt Poelvoorde m.f.) 1994 A Clockwork Orange (Stanley Kubrick) 1971 Cook, The Thief, His Wife & Her Lover, the (Peter Greenaway) 1989 Stroszek (Werner Herzog) 1976 Day of the Dead (George A. This is my currently complete list, I recently revisited my last part of this list and at the time being I feel good about it.
1. La Double vie de Véronique (1991) - Krzysztof Kieslowski 2. Barry Lyndon (1975) - Stanley Kubrick 3. Fanny och Alexander (1982) - Ingmar Bergman 4. Belle de jour (1967) - Luis Buñuel 5. Black Narcissus (1947) - Michael Powell/Emeric Pressburger 6. Repulsion (1965) - Roman Polanski 7. Le Doulos (1961) - Jean-Pierre Melville 8. The Treasure of the Sierra Madre (1948) - John Huston 9. Shadow of a doubt (1943) - Alfred Hitchcock 10. Jules et Jim (1961) - Francois Truffaut 11. Le Mépris (1963) - Jean-Luc Godard 12. Il deserto rosso (1964) - Michelangelo Antonioni 13. Trois couleurs: Bleu (1993) - Krzysztof Kieslowski 14. Stroszek (1977) - Werner Herzog 15. Kes (1969) - Ken Loach 16. Mouchette (1967) - Robert Bresson 17. Don't Look Now (1973) - Nicolas Roeg 18. Hiroshima mon amour (1959) - Alain Resnais 19. Le Notti di Cabiria (1957) - Federico Fellini 20. Sunset Blvd. (1950) - Billy Wilder
I really do love the 60s, some of the golden-age British and American films, French New Wave and modern European films. I prefer female leading characters, that in certain films experiance or have experianced a distortion of their lives to constantly drive them in search for change and truth. I also appreciate films with a slightly mystique touch, with blurred narratives and mixed purposes. Most importantly an artistic, strong and affecting visual style gets my attention. I'm very weak for films with a good amount of aesthetics and beauty (also intensionally) portrayed on film.
My YMDB is featured as a part of my signature.
