Anyone watch?
Patti Smith, yes! That was excellent, I couldn't believe she performed "Rock & Roll Nigger", and it was awesome Zack de la Rocha introduced her. I hate EVERYTHING I have heard from Van Halen, so I was pissed about that, but I hear their first album is really good, so I will check that shit out. It was so fucking stupid Grand Master Flash got in, he is RAP, that is not rock, and a rap group gets in before fucking 1000 better bands, who are actually ROCK. Eddie's intro for R.E.M. was amazing, they are so good.
I am guessing Bob Dylan has won already? Velvet Underground?

Yes, they are both in already. Van Halen's first record is awesome, don't dismiss it as hair metal, it was made in like '78 for Christ's sake. Hair metal didn't even exist back then.

Yeah, that is what my dad said. It is just in the montage they showed for Van Halen they didn't have a single good song, but I will still check it out.

Here are a ten minutes of cliff notes, for the first Van Halen album, as well as my favorite song off the album. It didn't overly impress me, but it was decent enough and it had its range and diversity. An additional cliff note for Grandmaster Flash. (Translation: Zack de le Rocha borrowed some of Grandmaster Flash's huh-hu-hu-huh vocal stylings for his work in Rage Against the Machine. Grandmaster Flash probably has more rock influence as well, but there's just one example.)

All David Lee Roth Van Halen is good. Anyway, I didn't watch this, but it's VH1, so they'll rerun it like mad.

I'm personally a fan of all DLR Van Halen as well.... A rap artist getting into the ROCK AND ROLL Hall of Fame is rediculous. No matter how much influence he had on the genre, he isn't a rock and roll artist.

Patti Smith was amazing! Glad she got in. Anyone have a list of every band that is already in the Hall of Fame?

InducteesIf you didn't know, you must be a recording artist or band for twenty-five years before you become eligible for Hall of Fame induction. Their are some omissions, most notably Rush and King Crimson, but overall it is a great place to visit. Has some very excellent exhibits and interesting stuff. Also it has the best music store ever, with every album from every inducted artist. Its close to us Erieites, Cleveland right near Browns stadium.

Wow, no Rush?! That is crazy, also, there are some other punk bands they need to include, as well as The Modern Lovers, at least for the simple fact they inspired at least one band already on the list.

Punk and prog are the two genres that get the least respect, The Sex Pistols didn't get in until last year and Floyd is the only band with any prog traits in the museum.
