Start with City Lights, then move to Great Dictator. I am just trying to get into him, and that is how I did it. They are both great films.

My favorite is Gold Rush, although City Lights is CLOSE behind. Charlie Chaplin made films that had the power to make you laugh silly and depress you at the same time. One of the greats ever.

Thanks. I'll check out City Lights when I can.
There's a copy of Modern Times floating around online on Google Video or YouTube. When should I watch that one?

Hell, Modern Times is probably the best Chaplin to start with. Watch ASAP!

Hmm.... I'll start with Modern Times, since I have access to a copy, and then go from there.

I LOVE Chaplin! I would recommend to start with Gold Rush. That captures so much of Chaplin. I have also seen Modern Times, which is just as great, and a good place to start also. The Kid is fantastic, and you could really start with that one also. The Great Dictator is the last I've seen from him, I think, and that is also a great film, but maybe not the best place to start. I don't know, but I guess I would have started with The Gold Rush if I hadn't seen anthing by this champion. Charlie Chaplin will always be one of the big artists, no matter what art form we're talking about.

I haven't seen a single Chaplin film (:x) that I remember, I could swear I saw one but then I realized it was just clips and I had not seen the full film, nor do I remember it. I will be getting into Chaplin soon, I have a couple of his films on my queue, but if you want to ie, post the link to Modern Times, might get to me watch it sometime this week.

I downloaded the video some time ago using a Firefox plug-in, so I'd have to go search for it myself. Thus why I was so vague; otherwise I would have gone and posted the link.
