i'm going with al pacino. his early stuff is incredible, but ever since 'scent of a woman' he's been in love with this terrible over-the-top nonsense...it seems like he doesn't even try to change his acting style from movie to movie anymore. used to love him, now i dread seeing him. (ocean's 13? are you kidding me?)

He stopped being enjoyable for me after Scent of A Woman. I like overacting (Nicholson, Mifune) but he just takes it too far.

Hah, Ocean's 13...he's probably just gonna mail in the performance for a paycheck.
And I just rewatched Heat last night...over-acting to the nth degree...i'd say about half the time it's unbelievably entertaining on his part, the other half just typically annoying modern, over-acting Al Pacino.
"Bet she's got a GREAT ASS!"

I love the part at the end where they, instead of aiming for the people shooting at them, seemingly aim FOR the cars just for the hell of it...

i will probably get crushed for this, but denzel washington. he is amazing in malcom x, and some other films, but everyone i hear always talks about how good he is, he is a really good actor, but he is no where close to the best working or anything, like people make him out to be. he isn't even the best black actor working. does anyone else feel this way?

couldn't be more right, sir. Denzel Washington only, and I mean only, plays either someone who's pissed off, a cop, or a pissed off cop.

I agree that he is overrated. He has made some good movies though (Hurricane, Training Day, Philadelphia) but you are right. He is usually typecast.

O shit, Malcom X is for sure his best performance. I meant to type that one, he was damn good in Glory too. But that is what, 20% of the movies he is in?

Yeah, he has done so much crappy Hollywood-downed stuff in his career, that his best works often gets overlooked by people. When we watched Malcom X in school everyone in there was like, "is that Denzel? He is so good." So they hadn't even heard of this film, let alone seen it. And don't get me started on Glory, we watched that in school as well, and no one liked it.

(ocean's 13? are you kidding me?) Pacino: "The Worse the Script, the More I Get Paid" Source: IMDB Veteran actor Al Pacino finds it baffling when he reads movie scripts - because the worse the script, the more the job pays. The Oscar winner insists top actors make very little money when they accept parts based on a decent script. He tells Variety, "I can almost state this is a fact. The worse the script is, the more money you're offered. Show me a bad script, and I will show you a big payday. Conversely, show me a really great script and forget it. You're lucky if you don't have to pay for it." End of Article. Now we now why he does so much crap, for the money.

Thats so amazing i was thinking Al Pacino for the link, thread whatever you wanna call it and the whole bloody things on him. I mean i even think his earlier stuff is overrated! The only role i like him in is in Dog Day Afternoon! Scarface is THE most overrated film in the enire world and everyone (mostly rappers) seem to praise it. As for The Godfather, he got hired cos he can shift his eyes about nervously... ooooooooooooooo... i'll stop now

knowing his tendency to overact, it's amazing to see just how restrained he is as Michael Corleone, especially in Part II...chilling performance, really.
