From Digital Bits...
DVD producer Kim Aubry has revealed to "Home Media Retailing" magazine that he and his team at Zoetrope Aubry Porductions have been hard at work for the past 15 months on an upcoming special edition DVD re-release of Francis Ford Coppola's 1979 masterpiece Apocalypse Now. Dubbed "Apocalypse Now: The Complete Dossier", this multi disc set will include both the original and extended "Redux" versions of the film, along with a patrol boat-load of newly-produced documentaries that will explore the film's troubled production in full detail.
Fans of Coppola's will be happy to hear that Aubry is also working on a long-requested special edition of 1992's Bram Stoker's Dracula. Not much is revealed about this release except that it will include, among other things, a special "art student" branching feature which will take viewiers from the film to specific scene related storyboards or paintings. no release date has been revealed, but expect both later this year.
The two disc set arrives August 15th, and will include both the original and 'Redux' versions of the film in anamorphic widescreen, along with more than 2 hours of bonus materials including commentary by Francis Ford Coppola, "Watch Apocalypse Now with Francis Ford Coppola", Marlon Brando's complete reading of the T.S. Eliot's poem "The Hollow Men", lost "Monkey Sampan" scene, additional scenes (Saigon Street Life, Military Intelligence Escorts, Intellegence Briefing, Willard Meets The PBR Crew, Letter From Mrs Kurtz, Booby Trap, Do-Lung Bridge "That Road Is Open", The Photojournalist, Colby, The Tiger Cages, Special Forces Knife), The Post Production of Apocolypse Now (A Million Feet Of Film: The Editing Of Apocolypse Now, The Music of Apocalypse Now, The Sound Of Apocolypse Now, The Final Mix), The A/V Club (The Birth of 5.1 Sound, Ghost Helicopter Flyover, "The Synthisizer Soundtrack" by Bob Moog, technical FAQ), "PBR Streetgang" Cast Memebers Reunion, "Apocalypse Then And Now" Retrospective. The Added Scenes and Expanded Scenes of Apocalypse Now Redux and The Color Pallet of Apocalypse Now. Retail will be $29.99.
Finally, a lot of people have been asking if Paramount's Apocalypse Now: The Complete Dossier (due 8/15) will include the infamous Hearts of Darkness: A Filmmaker's Apocalypse documentary. We've checked with the studio and sadly, it will not. Yes, we know... "How can they call it complete without that?!" We don't know. Do any of you industry types out there know who owns the rights to the Hearts of Darkness documentary, and what the status of its DVD release may be? It would seem like a no brainer.

Can't wait! I wish it included Hearts of Darkness though, my dad has been telling me to see it for years.
