The lack of DVD's I am buying this week makes me sad, comments.
DVD'S I'LL BUY
What the fuck?
DVD'S I'LL RENT
The Naked City (Criterion) - Sadly, eatawiiner didn't like this that much, but I still must see it, as I love noir, and this is suppose to be a masterpiece. This isn't foreign is it? It was nominated for best picture which is why I am wondering.
Guns Of Navarone: Collector's Edition - I am going to see this film sometime, since it is suppose to be a classic, and this edition has a commentary, but I won't buy it until I make sure I like it enough.
DVD'S I'LL IGNORE
Blood Diamond - DiCaprio's accent sounded god-awful in the trailer, and I am just not interested. Not to mention, the story sounds cliched. PLOT: "A fisherman, a smuggler, and a syndicate of businessmen match wits over the possession of a priceless diamond."
Rocky Balboa - I don't care what people say, I don't WANT to see this film, it doesn't look good to me at all, even if it is, I am not interested. If it isn't even better than the original, then it isn't that great a film.
The Bridge On The River Kwai: Collector's Edition - This is one of the best films ever made, that is for sure. The only thing that is stopping me from getting this, is that there is already a fantastic release out, and one that I think is better than this one, so I am going to pick that one up. But this film is recommended for everyone.
The Caine Mutiny: Collector's Edition - The film is called a classic, and has Bogart in it, but this new edition just has one old featurette, and doesn't seem worthy of buying, but if someone can tell me they know this movie IS worthy of seeing, I will see it.
The Care Bears Movie: 25th Anniversary Limited Edition - I liked Care Bears as a kid, but no, just no. And I don't think I have even seen this movie before, just the show, which I doubt is actually good.
The Dukes Of Hazzard - The Beginning: Unrated Edition - As I said in that other thread, this looks like THE WORST film ever made. I will never see this in a million years, the first one sucked major balls as well.
Eragon - beed says this is terrible, and it looked really bad, I bet the only redeeming thing about this is the effects. Just looks like a Lord of the Rings ripoff.
Everyone's Hero - PLOT: ""Everyone's Hero" is a heartwarming comedy-adventure, telling the story of a young boy's thousand-mile journey to help Babe Ruth and the New York Yankees win the World Series. The project's theme of perseverance against all odds was inspired by the film's originating director and executive producer, Christopher Reeve. " The animation really looks bad, and I am against most non-pixar CG cartoons.
First Born - PLOT: "Laura's expecting. Her husband, Steven's a loving guy but has little time for her. Her mom lives thousands of miles away. Forced to give up on her dreams, she's always been a bit edgy. A C-section drives her over the edge, making her see things in a different light. A creepy babysitter doesn't make things any better. She begins seeing things, trusts no one, as she goes into self-destruct mode." Does not sound good at all. I wouldn't see this, probably ever.
Going To Pieces - PLOT: "Every fear you’ve ever felt. Every evil you’ve witnessed. Every nightmare you’ve ever known… have come together for the first time in one film. Going to Pieces is the ultimate anthology that takes you on a horrifying journey through your favorite slasher films including Halloween, Psycho, Friday the 13th, Prom Night, A Nightmare on Elm Street, Scream and When a Stranger Calls. Interviews with horror icons John Carpenter, Wes Craven, Rob Zombie, Tom Savini and many more guide you through a series of gruesome scenes from classic films and recent hits. Watch as the history of the slasher film comes alive…if you dare! " This kind of film has been done many times, including a number of shows I have seen on TV, and I love horror films, but this has just been overdone.
Lawrence Of Arabia: Collector's Edition - Some new features, but seriously, the old edition was packed. I do want to see this film badly though, since it is suppose to be a masterpiece, so I will probably buy the old edition.
My Country, My Country - Another doc on Iraq, what is that, the 100000? I am no longer interested in any more docs having to do with Iraq.
The Nativity Story - Mary's perspective of the birth, boring! Although, for those interested, a priest did say this was a good film at my school.
Re-Animator (Limited Edition) - What the fuck is up with this!?!?! Why in the hell does this film need a new edition? The film is a horror masterpiece, but the old millenium edition is fucking perfect. I will not buy this, just because there is no why this could be better than the old one.
Return Of The Living Dead 5: Rave To The Grave - I have to see the forth one first, I am a big fan of the series, so even though these look terrible, and were made for sci-fi, I will still see this, just to see if this series is still funny. Probably not for everyone though, I do recommend checking out the first film, it is a classic.
St. Peter - Not a fan of the Bible, and a film about Peter and Paul's relationship to Christ (?) does not sound fun to me at all.
Stan Lee Presents: The Condor - What is up with Stan Lee? Skateboarder turned superhero voiced by Wilmer Valderrama, yeah, just a guess, but this sucks.
W.C. Fields Comedy Collection: Volume Two - Box Set includes Man On The Flying Trapeze, Never Give A Sucker An Even Break, Poppy, You're Telling Me, and The Old Fashioned Way. I have only seen W.C. in Bank Dick, but I didn't like it, and didn't think he was very funny, and that is suppose to be like his best film, so I am going to skip these, BUT, I will still watch his short films collection that is on Criterion, when blackmoses let's me borrow it. If you like slapstick humor, his films may be for you. Some people call Bank Dick one of the best films ever made.
Burning Annie - ""indie" film in the tradition of annie hall" yeah, nice try. It looks terribly bad to me.
