La Grande illusion 9.5/10 (Jean Renoir, 1937 IMDB) This is been called one of the best films of all-time, and I sure as hell aint gonna disagree with that, the film is amazing. A timeless story, that was made almost 70 years ago and still holds up just as well as it ever did. Renoir is an amazing director, and he shows his talents in this masterpiece. I recommend this! Has anyone on here seen this?

Here's a movie that I found enjoyable, but I just wasn't blown away by it. This has to be one of the few prison escape movies where the captors are actually likable. Even the Germans in Hogan's Heroes were more threatening. I realize that Grand Illusion is going for a deeper message than most prison escape movies, but still. Maybe I'm too traditional, but I like sadistic prison guards and that sort of thing.

Classic film. I personally loved that the German guards were people instead of sadistic villains. Great performances too.
