The best Clouzot film I have seen so far and one of the best films I have ever seen. It is an amazing suspense film that looks like it was a great inspiration on Hitchcock.

Just got it and Loved it. The ending was a big suprise and the acting and dialogue were superb. This is definently one of my favorite films of all time.

I saw last summer and it's easily top 50 material for me. I love the story and everything that brings me through it. Vera Clouzot precisely fits the role as the unsure, shaky and nervous woman, don't you guys think so too?

^Yes, she was perfect in her role. Easily the best performance of the film.
Anyway, totally loved this film. Just like Dan said, the influence on Hitchcock is very obvious. I still feel that Wages of Fear is a better film, but this one is damn good too. Clouzot is an awesome director and I must see everything he has ever done...

Yeah, I wish more of Clouzot's stuff were released. I've only seen Les Diabolique and Wages of fear, and it's difficult to prefer one over the other, but I think I like Les Diabolique slighty more, 'cos of the plot and, I didn't like Wages of Fear's ending.

yes, clouzot definitely should have more films released. i think there is four or so on criterion, three of which i have seen, and all of which have been great, with wages and this being two of the best ever. le corbeau (sp?) was the other, which was really good, too. you should check it out, nomansvally. how about the twist at the end of this? one of the best ever, probably. if this had some features i would buy it in a heartbeat. there is a film i saw at the horror fest in erie that pays homage to this film very well, and is worth tracking down if it ever comes out. you guys would probably both like it a lot.

Clouzot didn't do many films (eh, being banned for a few years after The Raven). Criterion has realeased the 4 big ones and I can't imagine them going for his others... but I'd really like to see The Mystery of Picasso on DVD some time. That movie rocks.
