And God Created Woman is light entertainment compared to most Criterion releases. I like Brigitte Bardot, so that's primarily whay I picked it up. The film is more important for its influence on the French New Wave and the sexual boundaries that it pushed than for its actual quality. It's visually vibrant, both due to Bardot and the attractive colors, but in no way a great cinematic achievement. There is sparse nudity and mild sexuality, which was considered groundbreaking at the time it was made, though it's tame by current standards.
Bardot is hot. Enjoy it for that reason if no other.
