One of the absolutely most beautiful color films I have ever seen. It started off very slow and I didn’t think it would go anywhere. I was dead wrong. A film about nuns trying to set up schools hospitals for natives that can't speak english in the Himalayas. The cinematography is just amazing and I was stunned to find out it was all shot on a back lot! A couple performances are so-so but the two leads Kerr and Farrar are amazing. Farrar is often hilarious in his role. The best performance in the whole film is by Byron as Sister Ruth. She is haunting and scary to watch. First Powell and Pressburger film I have seen and I must see more. This seems like it would be worth the price for the Audio commentary: a conversation with late director Michael Powell and Martin Scorsese which sounds sweet.
