I thought this thread might do some good. What are some websites besides Amazon and IMDB you use to determine what edition of a DVD to buy? Whether it's worth it to double dip? Or just to look at what's on the disc itself? I've found DVD Talk to be very thorough. And even helped me decide, in the end, to return my copy of Reservoir Dogs: 15th anniversary edition. This was because while the 15th had better audio/visual and even had English subtitles, the extras from the 10th were so much better. And I could only see myself with one copy of the movie, so I went with the 10th.

I easily prefer better picture/sound before more extras... But that's a personal thing of course, and I can see why you would like the other version.
Good addition, btw.

The best DVD site ever made, easily, I mean seriously by a 1000 lightyears, DVDBeaver! It has the best DVD comparisons, pictures, information, EVERYTHING! Seriously, if you haven't already, do yourself a favor and check it out. www.dvdbeaver.com

try DVDtown.com . The reviews over there are pretty damn good, IMO.

I easily prefer better picture/sound before more extras... But that's a personal thing of course, and I can see why you would like the other version. Good addition, btw. Thanks. I know what you mean, but when the picture/sound is pretty good before, I don't need to upgrade. If I can watch the movie without being distracted by how horrible the transfer is (some older movies like the CC's Shock Corridor is an example of a bad CC transfer, but not as worse as some budget-label transfers like horrible horrible Catcom's grave digging two-packs), then I'm fine. So if the audio/video is good in both versions, then I see if the extras are worth double dipping for. The extras in the new Reservoir Dog release were a downgrade, so, nah. Oh yeah, I think I used DVD Beaver for the comparisons of the Yi Yi DVDs, although I briefly considered the fact that you might have just been pulling my leg, with DVDBeaver being some kind of really bad porn website. Then I just went with it, and discovered that you weren't fucking with me. Lack of in-website search engine knocks off some points (edit: Google doesn't always do the job correctly for in-website searches), but it regains some points for how thorough it is. DVD Town might be more helpful if I weren't searching for a DVD that's so-new-it-doesn't-have-a-DVD-review-yet ( An Inconveinent Truth), but this could be a good resource as well. Thanks for the (potential) resources. We could also throw in some Easter Egg websites and other DVD-related websites here too; I would, but I'm at school and all of my bookmarks are at home.

www.dvdanswers.comA great site to find new DVD's coming out for both region one and multi-region DVD's too. It also has some reviews on there as well.
