All of you who blind-buy this set will be mightily dissapointed. Ive seen the first 2 films of this set, and they seemed meaningless and boring. Rohmer is definatly not my favorite director, but Im sure many of you will waste your money on this anyways. LISTEN TO ME PLEASE

I wasn't planning on buying, but was looking forward to seeing the films. I hope there is at least some worthy of seeing. You will have to keep us updated as you go through it.

Actually, Im netflixing some of the films over, and I started with the first two, and was totally bored by Suzanne's Career (The Bakery Girl was ok), so Im gonna try Claires Knee, and if thats unsuccessful, I wont bother with Rohmer for a LONG time. If I like it, I will rent more Rohmer, but I will never, ever, buy this set. Suzannes Career was a 50 minute film that felt like 2 WHOLE HOURS!!!

I just got this a while ago, and love it. I've seen 4 of the films, and always feel like watching them a second time when they're finished. They're so evasive and provocative.
His films turn me on--there's something very realistic about the unspoken eroticism that goes on in all of his films that I find very relatable and even arousing (especially in My Night at Maud's). He pays special attention to physical gestures during conversations and they all feel so spot-on, and intimate. It makes me curious about how he directs actors. They don't seem to know they're being photographed, sometimes.
Anyway--I guess it's not to all tastes, but it's definitely something worth trying out once.

Hmm, i rewatched the first two films in the set, much better....strange. I may have been tired the first time i watched them or something, or maybe they need two watches for them to sink into for someone like me. The set is georgeous, and I do recommend this too all of you.

I just watched Claire's Knee--it was probably the weakest of the Moral Tales, for me, but the short film that accompanies it on the DVD, The Curve is amazing... I'd actually say it's a pretty good introduction to his work, even though it was made in 1999. And it's only 16 minutes long, so it's not like it's two hours of ceasless talking.
