Lets clear this up, one drunk driving is a crime. Most people go to jail for a year for it up here in Pennsylvania. Two, because she is a famous criminal and is being rightfully jailed for her offense, she is an example? Not so, honey. Third, I don't think my life is mundane and she brings nothing into my life, most definitely not hope. And since when is drunk driving an honest mistake? So, if I drive drunk, is my mistake honest or dishonest?

Yeah, I didn't get that either! I don't really want to add anything, that just makes me angry! No way someone else would get away with drunk driving with a suspended licence. Damn! I hope she does go to jail.

so, like, is he arguing that drunk driving is ok? Exactly! Oh my goodness, this makes me feel sick to my stomach. If she doesn't get punished, there's no guarantee she (and many others, following this dream and hope and excitement she provides for them) won't go driving drunk and kill innocent people. Ick.

That is so stupid. She is a fucking fucktard. She committed a crime and is getting away almost scot-free, if anyone else did that they would get much worse. She should take it like the ugly dog she is and just do the few weeks. Guys, random question - do you guys also have weird ads for jeevansathi.com on the tops of your pages? oh God....
Hilton: "I'm Ready To Face the Consequences"
Socialite Paris Hilton has hit back at criticism she is refusing to take responsibility for driving with a suspended license, insisting she is "ready to face the consequences." The 26-year-old is set to spend 45 days in a California correctional facility after she was found guilty in court last Friday of violating terms of her 2006 drink-driving arrest. At the hearing, Hilton claimed her long-term representative Elliot Mintz had repeatedly informed her that her license had been suspended for only 30 days and that she could still drive for work-related matters. But Hilton, who is in the process of appealing her jail sentence, wants to make clear she realizes how serious driving under the influence is. She says: "After reading the media's coverage of my court hearing, I feel the need to correct what I believe are misperceptions about me. I absolutely realize how serious driving under the influence is. I could not live with myself if anyone was injured or killed while I was driving while impaired. Clearly, no one should - no matter how slightly. I am ready to face the consequences of violating probation. No one is above the law. I surely am not. I do not expect to be treated better than anyone else who violated probation. However, my hope is that I will not be treated worse."

Sharks, Bulls go for glory Gavin Rich May 13 2007 at 02:50PM Springbok captain John Smit summed up the feelings of millions of South Africans as the Bulls and Sharks set themselves on a collision course on Saturday for this week's Super 14 final - "It is a wonderful feeling to know that the Cup is definitely coming to our shores".Indeed, it has been a long wait for South African rugby, 12 years to be precise, for that is how long the competition has been going without there being a local winner. There will definitely be one this time next week, however, as the Bulls and Sharks will be squaring off in an eagerly anticipated Durban final. The Sharks booked their place with a 34-18 win over the Blues at King's Park, a match which had everything you would want from a semi-final, with the lead changing hands in the second half before the hosts powered away in the last minutes to spark a riotous celebration. And there were similar scenes a few hours later in Pretoria, with the action at Loftus, where the Bulls were playing the Crusaders, being beamed on to the big screen at King's Park and into the hospitality suites. The Bulls, as is their wont, simply suffocated the champion Crusaders, winning 27-12.But yesterday belonged to the South African players, and no-one last night was beaming broader than Bok captain Smit. "We mustn't get ahead of ourselves, and we must remember that in 1998 South Africa did poorly in the Super 12 and won the Tri-Nations, but making it an all-South African home final is a huge achievement and it is a great confidence booster," said Smit. "But while what we have done is amazing, we as the Sharks must remember that the job is not finished yet. Coming second will mean nothing to us next week, people only remember who actually wins the competition." It needs to be pointed out that the four uncapped players included in the training squad do not automatically now become Springboks. Watson, Ndungane, Murray and Bismarck du Plessis will only become international players once they have worn the green and gold. White has consistently said that the team to face England will be a full strength one, and he is set to whittle his squad down after the match against Samoa in Johannesburg on June 9. OH MY WORD! YAY! I'm a Sharks supporter myself, and although I hate the Bulls I must say that I'm so, so, so very happy. This is the first time in the history of this competition that two South African teams are in the finals! YAY! I'm watching said match with tons of my friends, and I'm going to be the only Shark in the big, BLUE sea. It's going to be lonely, but I really can't wait. I'm borrowing a shirt from my dispirited friend and I'm rawking that party!vs. (boooo!)Yeah I know, I suck, but this is going to be so cool!

'Brokeback Mountain' Lawsuit Issued Against School Board Source: IMDB
A lawsuit has been launched against a school teacher who showed Brokeback Mountain to a class of young students. Twelve-year-old Jessica Turner and her grandparents, Kenneth and LaVerne Richardson, are seeking $500,000 against the Chicago Board of Education after the movie was shown at Ashburn Community Elementary School. The lawsuit, filed in Cook County Circuit Court on Friday claims Turner "suffered psychological distress" after viewing the R-rated film, which was viewed by the class without permission from the student's parents or legal guardians. Turner's grandfather Kenneth Richardson, who complained to school heads in 2005 over profanities in educational reading literature, says, "The teacher knew she was not supposed to do this. It is very important to me that my children not be exposed to this. This was the last straw. I feel the lawsuit was necessary because of the warning I had already given them on the literature they were giving out to children to read. I told them it was against our faith." R-ratings denote the film in question contains one or more adult themes - adult language, strong sexuality, nudity, violence or drug use.
End of Article.
Oh, God. Thoughts?

In middle school, I had this kickass art teacher that would play movies every day in the background to give us some inspiration and stuff. One day he was going to bring in Spawn, but one of my classmates said he didn't want to see it. Even I thought he was kind of lame for doing that, but, whatever.

That Brokeback Mountain thing is ridiculous. The teacher is dumb for showing the movie (did she think she wasn't gonna get backlash?) but it is a public school. Faith doesn't come into play at all in a public school.
And the Paris Hilton thing is just too awful to require any additional comments.

Too bad the teacher was stupid enough to do that. I got to see 'The Fugitive' in 5th grade and we had to get our parents to sign release forms allowing us to view a PG13 rated film. This is on a whole other scale tho.

Yeah, that's the thing. You need release forms for showing movies like that. Exactly. Speaking of this topic, I'm in a Sex and Gender class (my second, if you're paying attention to the tidbits I throw out), and my teacher is down with John Waters, so I wrote in my midterm evaluation that it would be awesome if I could say I saw a John Waters movie academically. Especially my first John Waters movie, at that. No release forms required. There are really only three students including me that are under 21, and since we're in the upper level of a four year degree, I don't really think any of the class are under the age of 17.

Well, I'm watching In America at school right now, and right before the sex scene our teacher (jokingly, I think) told everyone under sixteen to leave the room for a while (since in our grade everyone is either sixteen or turning sixteen from January - December (yeah, I'm in December). We just laughed at him and declined the offer. I don't think anyone would be stupid enough to go complain about stuff like that in our school.
We have bad language in our books as well, but I think kids have started looking past that to see the bigger picture, and when we're reading plays and we have to read aloud and play characters, some kids just cut the swearing out. I was the only kid in our whole class to read the JESUS CHRIST in Of Mice and Men two years ago. One girl complained and was given another book, but that is laughed at in our school, not applauded. She's pretty unpopular, still now.
