You gave it a 7.8. If you didn''t like it, why did you give it such a high grade?

It seems like you guys give a 10/10 too easy. Generally most of you give a film, lets say 7/10, and you have almost nothing positive to say. Wierd.

I don't think I give them out to easily. If I give a 7/10 I really appreciate the film for something or like certain things in the film. Sometimes when I give that grade it seems like a stress everything I don't like about it instead of all the things I do like. I only give 10's for films I LOVE! But I do see alot of 10/10's given or really high ratings that I disagree with. But I am probably guilty of doing the same thing on ocassion. Do you think you could give examples of times when someone gave them out to easy?

I think I grade pretty fairly. I give out tens when a film is exceptionally done with virtually no flaws. Sure, I give them out pretty often, but I also watch a lot of excellent stuff.

Not really a movie, but...
Elton John- Live at Radio City Music Hall 9/10 Very cool concert. The one point is taken off because he didn't play Rocket Man. Ugh. But the Tiny Dancer performance was perfect.

Full Metal Jacket (rewatch) 10/10
Watched this on the bus ride. Just keeps getting better each time I see it. Wish it was still in my top 20. Great music choices. I start to tear up when I hear M-I-C-K-E-Y M-O-U-S-E! Biggining to end just flat amazing.

Finally got round to watching 1900, that I taped off filmfour ages ago. Wish I hadn't! The dubbing absolutely ruined the film & I hate to admit that I couldn't finish it. Also, the stupid tape got chewed so it looked like crap. The film is probably great & I do want to see it again. Anyone know if there is a subtitled version?

Kurosawa is brilliant, he just keeps getting better and better. This isn't his best but one of them! Braveheart 9/10! I liked this film a lot it was really good way better then "The Passion"!

Just saw A History of Violence. And I liked it a whole lot. A great, solid piece if modern cinema. Great performences, nice visual surface and a highly interesting storyline/message. Impressive stuff from Cronenberg.

Kikujiro- 8/10 A very good film from Kitano. As he did with Sonatine, he takes a very conventional story and he handles it in his own way. I personally think this film is better than Sonatine, but don't kill me over that. The performances are great, especially from Kitano.

Letyat zhuravli (The Cranes are Flying) [Kalatozishvili, Mikheil 1957 IMDB] - 10/10 One of the most beautiful films I have ever seen and instantly one of my favorite films. While watching this I was blown away by the shots in the film and the performances. All the shots are unique and different each adding something to the scene. This has got to be one of the most underrated films of all time. Do yourself a favor and go watch this film you won't regret it. There are no images I can find online that do the film justice...
