Back to the Future (rewatch) - 10/10
Yes I watched it again (this time the whole thing), it's just that much fun. This time my brother rewatched it as well and also enjoyed it again.

The maltese Falcon - Film noir is usually my cup of tea. But The Maltese Falcon is a tea without taste. Highly overrated.
Adams Æbler (Adams Apples) - Great danish film with original elements put in a tragicomic tale about brotherliness.

Apocalypse Now (Francis Ford Coppola) (1979) REWATCH Watched it for the first time in a few months, and it made me remember just how much of a masterpiece the film is. Willard's journey becomes increasingly dream-like the further up-river he goes, as you're given the back-story of Kurtz's military genius and descent into madness...like Willard, you the viewer want to confront Kurtz and know his so-called madness. Symbolism in this film is all over the place, and overall, it's an experience that won't leave you for a long, long time. 10/10 P.S. Coppola's 2nd best film, I think (to The Godfather...just beats out Godfather Part II).

Oh, I agree. Apocalypse now is a piece of art. Visually astonishing! And Duvall are fantastisc, as with the rest of the actors. "I love the smell of napalm in the morning..." Priceless ;D I saw Escape from New York. Cheesy, but entertaining and packed with atmosphere (hey, I like that in movies). Russel may be a bit overly macho, but his attitude is cool enough. A good b-flick overrall.

This is as much fun as the first one for me. I just love watching this. Chris Lloyd is amazingly hilarious!

III isn't that good in my opinion. I will explain myself in person to you. Two is just so creative and fun to see him go back into the old film. But I will explain much easier in person.

UGH, a 10? Its more like a 7.5 for me, I like III much better. I completely agree. Part I's a classic by now (8/10 at least), and III's creative in its concept and its homage to the old Westerns (7/10). II just focuses way too much on what it'll be like in the future, sacrificing storyline in the process. In the end, it's got some decent stuff, but overall just an exhausting experience. 5.5/10 in my book.

Beast of Yucca Flats - This film is among the 100 worst films on the imdb. Don`t listen to those wierdos. I found this film very good, in fact. The camerawork are mostly good, and this is the films greatest strength. The acting is horrible, and the narrator is pathetic in many ways. But at the same time his lines are superbly delivered. Here are some of them: "Boys from the city. Not yet caught by the whirlwind of Progress. Feed soda pop to the thirsty pigs."
"Touch a button. Things happen. A scientist becomes a beast."
"Flag on the moon. How did it get there?"Could it be any better (worse?)? The film has so many unlogical elements that you could puke. The editing is sometimes awful, sometimes great. In many ways this is a bad film, and all the reviews I have read slaughter it. But I must say I had a fun time watching it, and find many great aspects of Beast of Yucca Flats. I was surprised by the great camerawork, and taken in mind that I had absolutely NO expectations when I sat down waiting the film to begin, this is a film I enjoyd very much. Don`t listen to those imdb-jerk-offs. Beast of Yucca Flats is a good film in many ways. Though poor in many other ways. I think I would give it a 8/10, in fact. ;D (But if I were to review it in a more objectively way, I think I would have give it 5/10.

Opening Night (Cassavetes, John 1977 IMDB) 10/10The film is an acting extravaganza with a tour de force performance from Gena Rowlands. The film is beautifully shot with some very sweet experimental cuts and shots. Rowlands slow breakdown throughout the film is heartbreaking and hard to watch sometimes. I haven’t seen too many actors/actress’ get into a role like she does. Her performance seems so deep and genuine. The genius idea to show Rowlands younger self as another person actually reminded me of Fight Club in many ways and has to be seen really to understand what I mean. The end scene had me jumping for joy, I was just so excited. This is a truly amazing picture. In other words go see this film! EDIT: I just learned the entire last sequence was not rehearsed at all and neither actor knew what would happen. I am in shock...I can't even breathe. This has just gone on to become one of my all-time favorite scenes.

Where in the name of Christ can I see it? I buyed it here: www.platekompaniet.no/dvdproduct.asp?id=DGOS7003DVDThis is a norwegian company that sells cd`s and dvd`s over the internet and also in stores laying here and there in the contry. It`s something like Virgin Megastore in Great Britain, only far smaller and far from as good. The price you see, 229 kr, is the same as 20 GBP. The quality of some of these films are very poor, but you get like Metropolis and Nosferatu, among 48 others for only 20 GBP, so I guess you can`t complain.

Assault on Precinct 13 (2005) - Poor, poor film. The only good part is some of the actors. Overrall an unforgettable, unnecessary piece of Hollywood-garbage. In stead of seeing this, go watch Carpenters übercool classic.

Oldboy- 10/10 One of the best and most creative movies I have ever seen. The performances are absolutly fantastic also. As Andruini has said, this movie is incredibly perfect with no flaws what so ever. The twists come at just the right times and the violence is there but it is never over done. The end is superb also. This is probably one of my top 20 favorites.

Faces (Cassavetes, John 1968 IMDB) 10/10! The way they character’s act towards each other and the way the relationships develop is just mesmerizing. I have finally finished all the Cassavetes’ in the Criterion boxset. I am glad I saved this for last; it was a perfect end that I doubt I would have liked as much if I had watched it before. The two leads are perfect; I actually think Marley outshines Rowland in this film. My favorite scene is the whole sequence after Marley returns to his wife after cheating on her. It is just brilliant. A wonderful character study that was stunning in every sense of the word. This film is so good, everyone must see it. My new favorite Cassavetes!! Maria Forst: "There's a Bergman film in the neighborhood." Richard Forst: "I don't feel like getting depressed tonight."

Enron: The Smartest Guys in the Room. Compellingly fascinating, although the ubiquitous and very unsubtle use of pop songs every 10 seconds spoils the first half of the film (inspired use of Tom Waits songs though) ***/*****
2001: A Space Odyssey. Rewatch. Nearly 40 years old and still an enigma *****/*****
Mean Streets. Rewatch. I still think this is over-rated. Not denying the obvious talent Scorsese had in '73, and De Niro & Keitel are great. Film suffers from a lack of general cohesiveness & plays out like a bunch of disconnected scenes. The plot (no more than a subplot in better films), Keitel's search for salvation (a way to reconcile his religious faith with his wiseguy lifestyle), fails badly and the film ends up not really going anywhere. A realistic denouement maybe, but not particularly interesting or entertaining ***/*****

Oh boy... "Manos" The Hands of Fate (Hal Warren; 1966) Easily the WORST movie ever made! One of the most quotable, as well. "Why can't you just leave us alone?" "The Master is gone. But he is with us always with us. He is always with us." "That must be the Master himself." "The man, yes, the child, no" Fucking amazing. 0/10

But it has to be seen. A bit like Plan 9 From Outer Space and Crash (2004). Speaking of Plan 9.... Plan 9 From Outer Space (Edward D. Wood, Jr.) (1959) This is one of those films that's just so bad it's a must-see for any fan of film. Where to begin? How about replacing Bela Lugosi with Wood's girlfriend's chiropractor in the middle of shooting, and it easily being noticeable in the final product (Lugosi's in daylight, while Dr. Tom's got the cape over his face at nighttime). Then there's about 20 minutes of explaining some nonsense about a solanite weapon that literally put me to sleep...my goodness, Ed Wood was just completely lost when it came to making films, but where would we be without the poor guy? Easily the worst film I've ever seen, but I'm so glad I've finally seen it 0/10

Ali: Fear Eats The Soul 9/10
Sure the performances were brilliant, just brilliant. Sure the cinematography of the film ranks in my top 10 of all time. A couple of the shots, well I could hang a picture of those shots on my wall, they were so gorgeous. Criterion does another masterful job with their transfer here. I found the film very entertaining and yet very heart-breaking.
Yet, at the same time, I feel that R.W. Fassbinder pushes and stresses his themes a bit too much. Sometimes the blatent attempt to force his themes got a bit tedious, so I cannot give the film a perfect score. Definatly a film I will remember though.
