Munich- 9/10 (rewatch) A very good movie from Spielberg. But, I thought it could have been much better. He had a chance to make another Schindler's List, but he falls just short. This film is WAY to long and moves at a rather plodding pace. But those are just minor quibbles. The performances are great from everyone, but especially from Bana.

You know nothing Andrew, Schindler's List is amazing! You just don't like it, because it's Spielberg. By the way, BeeD, I'd probably give Munich a 9.5. I had a few small problems that prevented it from being a ten, but overall, I think it's the best film of '05...

I started to watch Un Flic (A cop) This was Melvilles last film. Im about 40 mins in and so far its ok just not amazing. It simply feels familiar and a bit dull. It may pickup though. The beginning was well done, robbery of a small bank, heavy rain, no dialogue, it was pretty cool.

Mr. Arkadin (Orson Welles; 1955) (The Comprehensive Version; 2006) This is a fantastic film (at least in this version). A great film-noir, suspense story. Orson Welles and Robert Arden give a couple stunning performances. There are twists all through this movie. It is a very fun film to watch. This version is probably the closest we'll ever get to Welles' original vision for the film, and if that's the case, then that's fine, because I liked this enough to give it a... 10/10

A Constant Forge (Kiselyak, Charles 2000 IMDB) This documentary is just icing on the cake. It is a great finish to one of the best box sets of films ever. It is packed with information and tons of different actors/directors as well as friends and co-workers talk about Cassavetes and analyze his films. Very informative and should not be missed by any fan of Cassavetes. It’s 3 1/2 hour running time is a killer though and I am surprised I made it through this in one sitting.

Million Dollar Baby (Clint Eastwood) (2004) Sure, in terms of boxing films, it's no Raging Bull, but it's still a great film. It succeeds the way Raging Bull succeeded: the sport of boxing isn't at the forefront, as in Rocky (which I think is overrated); rather, boxing is in the background, instead focusing on the main characters and their dillemmas, all of whom happen to be affiliated with the sport of boxing. The fights themselves are almost an afterthought; it's the internal strife of the characters that drive the film. I didn't have a problem with the controversial ending; if anything, it made the film unique and prevented it from being clichéd, with a storybook ending of the up-and-comer winning the championship and the hard-as-nails trainer rediscovering himself. One thing that I was displeased with was Maggie's family, which couldn't be more stereotypically redneck, but all-in-all, it was at least the best film of 2004, deserving the Best Picture Oscar. 9/10

Grease 2 - 2/10
Oh God why? This film never should have been made. It is just terrible. Love the first one though; I just got to see the end again before I watched this one. There goes my streak of watching good films.

Oh, God... Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers: The Movie (1995) Oh boy... How do I explain myself for watching this? Well, my brother and his friend Chris were talking about Power Rangers today. (It's certainly fun to talk about from a nostalgia point of view) So we decided to watch this. NOW, I haven't seen this since around '97. It's a fun movie to make fun of. It's absolute shit, but I enjoy it (again from a nostalgia point of view) Terrible movie. 2/10

Touch of Evil (Orson Welles) (1958) Simply brilliant. Shows just how gifted Welles was with the art of filmmaking. Is it better than Citizen Kane, as many critics claim? Probably not, but a hell of a film nonetheless. If Heston, Leigh, and Welles are the three main characters, then the fourth main character is undoubtedly the atmosphere. The film is pervaded with the jazzy music, the creepy lights, and the feel of a seedy border town...perfectly sets up the noir feeling. Excellent performances (though Heston's Mexican accent leaves something to be desired) and one of the most rewarding noirs ever made...Welles at his very best. 9.5/10

Angst essen Seele auf (Ali: Fear Eats the Soul) [Fassbinder, Rainer Werner 1974 IMDB] 10/10! It is funny how such an unexpected and unusual relationship can work so well. I never doubted there love for each other. It worked like any other love story, and then some! The prejudice in the film is not hidden at all, it is right there. Emmi is basically alienated from everyone she knows even her family. It was a very sad film but in other ways very happy film. The open ending works perfectly in my mind. This film was just amazing. This was my first Fassbinder and I am already dying to see more!!

The Wages of Fear 10/10 Easily the tensest film I have ever scene. The way Clouzot uses suspense is just amazing. The scenery and the performances are all top notch. But Clouato is the real winner here. His directing outshine everything else in the film. Probably going to go in my top 20.

I was just surprised you watched something good. ---------------------------------------- Fellini: A Director's Notebook - 6/10 This was an interesting piece by Fellini that everyone should check out. But it really was just a mess of stuff. It wasn't good per se. But it was a interesting "documentary" experiment that is at least worth a look.

Romeo and Juliet (1969) - 6/10
It smokes Romeo + Juliet but it still wasn't that great. There is nothing I really need to say about it. It was just "eh." Except that the score was decent until I got sick of it.

Naked Lunch
I've wanted to see this film for about a year now, and I was actually going to buy the Criterion for AU$60. Yesterday morning, when I noticed it was on World Movies, I couldn't contain my excitement. When 6:30 p.m. finally arrived, I prepared a blank tape, grabbed a blanket and turned on the TV. When the movie ended 2 hours later, I was speechless. This was everything I was expecting. It OBLITERATES Dead Ringers, which, until now, was my favourite Cronenberg film. It's bizzare, fascinating and very, very entertaining. I loved every minute of it. This is definitely going to find a place in my top 20, if not my top 10.
10/10

I liked that movie a lot too. Not as much as you, but I thought it did a great job with a nearly unfilmable subject. Cronenberg is a master.

Ali: Fear Eats the Soul 10/10 A superb film. Truly is the masterpiece that some of the members of this forum have proclaimed. Fassbinder's creates such an atmosphere with his gliding shots and intense close-ups. The close-ups kinda remind me of Leone. A romantic Leone. The performances of the two main characters were just spectacular. Their faces show soo much emotion. The ending was a shocker too. But, it was great also.

Fast Times at Ridgemont High (rewatch) - 10/10!
In the top 5 best teen comedies ever. Crowe is an amazing writer and Spicole is just hilarious. So many quotable lines! Aloha Mr. Hand!!!! I could watch this nonstop for the next ten years and not be sick of it! lol
EDIT: That is just how much I like the film. If I based it on the film itself it would be an 8.

Stalker (1979). I dont pretend to understand every nuance of this amazing film. Many have argued as to whether Stalker is allegorical or science fiction etc etc. I dont think it matters. The film seems to be an exploration of man's faith and has a rhythym and pace that allows the watcher to become completely embroiled in it's reflectiveness. Cinematography and production design are utterly breathtaking, from the stark monochrome of the "physical" (post-Chernobyl?) world, to the vibrant grime and beautiful squalor of "the zone". This film is as deep as you want it to be. I want to watch it again (it only finished half an hour ago) and have a feeling that I will get something new each rewatch. An unforgettable experience. *****/*****
