Because of all the stories that are told. It is not very similar, but the stories involve people that are all connected in some way. Just like Pulp Fiction.

Samurai I (rewatch) 10/10

Just as good as before! The film is fucking amazing but needs a much better DVD transfer for the film to fully be appreciated. One of my favorite endings!



Ran (rewatch) 10/10

Fucking fantastic! The second best Kurosawa I have seen. Even better than the first time. I have never anything like the battle in this film. And the colors and shots are outstanding. GO SEE THIS!

Carnival of Souls (rewatch) 9/10

Amazing little horror film that I had to show my parents. You can see that this def. inspired many of other horror films. (i.e NotLD) Go watch this it is a truly amazing film.

Tirez sur le pianiste (Shoot the Piano Player) [Truffaut, François 1960 IMDB] 9/10

Great film. Love the way they had the character of Charlie think to himself. It actually reminded me of Sin City where they do it the same way. Truffaut is a master and the cinematography is amazing it’s almost like there is no camera at all sometimes. The film is even really funny in parts and a great thriller in others. Definitely one of the most fun films I have seen, but it’s not just a fun film it’s a masterpiece. I look forward to more Truffaut.

I really need to see more Truffaut. I've only seen Farenheit 451, which most consider his worst film. I love the book, the movie is pretty cool. I can't wait to see more.

Shoot the piano player looks good. I've just watched the first episode (thats about 90mins) of Fanny Och Alexander and I am amazed. Its funny and sweet, humane and depressing with a slight chilll. Another thing, its totally, utterly engaging, such interesting characters and I loved the length of the scenes, to often in films you have scenes you really like, but they end to quickly, the length here was just great. For example the scene at the table where it cuts between different peole having little conversations, perfect length. God I love it when cinema is this good.

Match Point 9/10

The first good Allen film in a while. The film is very engaging and just when its on the brink of being boring, you get a twist. All the performances are great and Allen feels just as homey in London as he is in New York. Can't wait for Scoop!

Walkabout (Roeg, Nicolas 1971 IMDB) 9/10

This is easily one of the most beautiful films I have ever seen. The shots and colors are stunning. And the editing is perfect. This film, unlike Bad Timing which stand out is editing, the stand out for this film is the cinematography. Now I see why Roeg has been called one of cinemas great directors. This film, in my poinion, is the only one of his films worthy of Criterion. But I can see for his others that they wanted to get some of this masters work out for people to see so its fine with me. The film is about a brother and sister who are stranded in a desert when a aborigine on his "walkabout" (initiation into becoming an adult) helps them fend for themselves in the desert. I encourage everyone to check this wonderful film out if you haven't seen it.

Mission Impossible III - 7.5/10

Wow, I was surprised by this. If you look passed the flaws this is one hell of an action film. It was very fun to watch!

Ugetsu 10/10. This has been called one of the greatest movies ever. I am not going to disagree. It accomplishes everything that it sets out to. The acting is great and so is the story.The blending of the real and the surreal is very good also. Recommended.

Oh God! Do yourself a favor and go and buy it so you can watch it on a screen that isn't 2 inches. Trust me it is well worth it. You can't just go and watch one of the best films of all time on liketelvision!
