Back a couple months ago, after hearing B&N had Criterion DVD's, I went there looking and didn't even see them at first because right in the front they had a huge Criterion stand set up, it really surprised me. But they are way too expenisve, so I never buy anything there. In fact Borders is also the same way, but you actually get it a little cheaper than normal with those 30% off coupons.

Bought these a few days ago:
Assault on Precinct 13 - $3
Enter the Dragon (Special Edition, VHS) - $1
About Schmidt Crash Lost in Translation (widescreen) The Ring Transformers movie The Woodsman All for $20
Didn't post them sooner because I didn't feel like putting up with bullshit from people telling me they hated Crash, or shit like that. I bought them for my own reasons, because I wanted to see them, not to impress you, or to get your favorite movies.
That is all.

Good haul BeeD. Hopefully they got it cheap, because it's $8 more than it was when it came out. At least on the Amazon front. They could have sprung for a few used DVDs with that kind of dough. And, good haul too, Andruini. Even if I haven't seen either (although Gere generally concerns me). But still... Three for $20 at the Game Stop - I saw this and was like "this is coming home with me." - Almost missed this one. - I wanted to check it out. I heard this version, the director's cut, was actually not horribly shitty, so, there ya go. (Smaller image so people won't poke at it as much.)

I have the redux-version, but I have looked forward to see the original for so long now, so I just had to buy this. I'm looking forward to put this into my dvd-player and check it out.

Alright, I'm going to taint this thread with a CD and Book purchase. Here I go: F-F-F-F-I-I-I-I-I-GHT Club - $14 (I needed to upgrade from my VHS tape) The Crane Wife by the Decemberists - $10 (down from $15~) Video Game Art - $3 (only because it was like 90% off) I really enjoy Fight Club. The Decemberists are one of the few bands I still care about. And, Amazon actually had a surprising amount of books going for $3, which surprised me quite a lot. I narrowed down my choices between this, a somewhat classic novel I'd never heard of, and a contemporary novel I'd never heard of. In the end, I decided that my book collection could be stronger with another art book. Besides, paperback classics can be bought for nickel and dime if you go to a library bookstore.

Video Game Art - $3 (only because it was like 90% off) That cover reminds me of how great of an artist Yoji Shinkawa is. His art is amazing.

I haven't received it yet, but that's only $3 at Amazon. I don't know for how long, and I might suggest getting the $25-and-it's-free-shipping because the shipping for it might be expensive (my order was $6 for shipping instead of the usual $3 or $4). But you definitely need to get on that, if only to have a $3 print of that painting.

I've bought a bunch of DVDs new that didn't come with an insert. My solution to this little problem is find a poster, double the width so there's a bunch of white, and print it in landscape view. You cut out the white border, and, just like that, you have a decent insert.
Even if you print it out on a black and white printer, it still looks better than nothing.
I'm into the whole DVD modding sceeene, dude.

Rented: Julien Donkey Boy Pink FlamingosBought: Even though I already have it I found it in the $5.99 bin at Gamestop (!). I am going to hold onto it until it goes up in price a little bit. It is OOP. When I put it on Ebay I will post the link in the "Selling DVD's" thread, just in case, for some reason, someone on here wants to buy it.

If Gamestop were selling five copies of that edition of the Seven Samurai for that price, I think I'd buy all of them. Or at least save someone else a copy. Didn't find another two DVDs to make that a three-for-$10 find?

Kiki's Delivery Service (Got it at GameStop for 10) Spirited Away (Bought it off of Dan, since he had an extra copy.)

Not to overshadow your finds, but: $51 at Amazon... $17 at Costco. Bitchin'. $13 at Costco. Still deciding if I should keep it or return it. I have the 10th anniversary edition, which I bought for $5.

You don't have to be. I think the main reason why Grave of the Fireflies is even animated to begin with is because the alternative would have been some pretty crappy claymation / model houses. Plus, it's a Japanese story, by some people involved with Studio Ghibli. They did make a live action version of this movie, but I haven't seen it, so I can't recommend it. However, you don't need to be a fan of anime to enjoy Grave of the Fireflies. Our boy Roger Ebert certainly isn't, and by golly it's in his Top 100 (one of only two animated movies), last I heard. Unfortunately, I have yet to buy it myself. Just... so... expensive... for the best looking version. edit: I'm leaning toward returning the Reservoir Dogs DVD. Some of the more interesting extras I liked in the 10th are absent in the 15th, and the gas can isn't really worth all the extra money to me.Couldn't go wrong with the Steve McQueen box set, though. They had some others at the same price, but none were quite as much of a steal.
