In the Mood for Love and Agguire: Wrath of God are going to be arriving tomorrow! Awesome! I ordered In the Mood for Love because I literally can't stop watching 2046, and I heard they are more or less the same theme? And I ordered Agguire because I just got done watching Stroszek and thought that maybe some more Herzog would shed light on it.

Yes, In the Mood for Love and 2046 have very similar themes and in my opinion, are very similar movies. If you liked 2046, then I'm almost certain you will like its predecessor.

Isn't 2046 a loose sequel? Anyways, those both will blow you away dontdigonswine, such fantastic films.

I think 2046 and ITMFL are very different movies. While ITMFL has a linear narrative, 2046 has an elliptical narrative. I liked 2046 much more than ITMFL. ITMFL is more similar to Happy Together and Days of Being Wild, whereas 2046 is more similar to Ashes of Time due to it's structure. I heard Ashes of Time's structure is influenced by Last Year at Marienbad.

Les Diaboliques (HG Clouzot; 1955) Hiroshima Mon Amour (Resnais; 1959) Christ proclaim the mystery of faith, you just bought two of the best films ever fucking made. Have you seen either of these masterpieces? And does the DVD you bought say Les Diaboliques on it? Or does it say Diabolique?

I blind-bought the Criterion versions, I used Les Diabolique simply to avoid any possible confusion with the remake.

Are your fucking going crazy, yet another masterpiece of a film!? I wish I could be visiting all these films for the first time again. I look forward to your thoughts on these. You will probably be happy, since I believe you told me to see it, but I rented Fallen Angels and watched it, thoughts will be up sometime.

Hehe. The main reason I ordered The Company of Wolves was because of Lordofdance, I spit on your Grave was mainly because of criterionmasters praise, and The Big Heat... Well, it looks awesome!

The only one I'd watch would be The Big Heat. I'm too easily scared!

You will probably be happy, since I believe you told me to see it, but I rented Fallen Angels and watched it, thoughts will be up sometime. I will watch Diabolique and Harakiri ASAP, but unfortunately I have a lot of schoolwork to deal with. Since Fallen Angels and Chungking Express was originally meant to be filmed as one movie, it has the same themes of identity as Chungking Express.
