Rented: Fast Food Nation All About My Mother Wow, what a coincidence, without even having looked in this thread I rented All About My Mother, watched it, and loved it. Only, I am not sure you will find it to be that much of a masterpiece, although there is a chance. It is very Cassavetes-esque, but it may or may not be your type of film, I do hope you love it though, there is no way you will not like the performances as least. Anyways, rented some other films: [already mentioned] All About My MotherBreaking the WavesWoman in the Dunes [holy fucking, fuck! I am flipping out about this; I cannot wait to see this.] Sid and Nancy [finally broke down and rented the non-Criterion disc.] and... the rest of The Beatles Anthology

The Three Burials Of Melquiades Estrada [2005], seen it once and I loved it! Lots of great extras on this... ;D + Morvern Callar [2002], never seen it, but Ratcatcher was excellent!

Awesome man, you will have to tell us your thoughts on those new Yojimbo/Sanjuro discs. Did you buy the box set, or just both of them separately?
Anyways, I rented some films over the passed week:
Happy Together Mutual Appreciation* Saw III The Chess Players*
*Watched, and totally fucking adored.

Got: Shadows (Cassavetes) Branded to Kill (Suzuki) Have you seen either of these films? They are both truly amazing, and Shadows was my first Cassavetes, so it will also be special to me. And as for Branded to Kill, it is so much fucking fun, although I prefer Tokyo Drifter. Seven Samurai finally came in through Netflix Nice man, I always get excited when someone is first seeing Seven Samurai. Is this your first Kurosawa? If it is, I want to let you know that some over-acting is normal in Japanese films like these, that was just the way they acted. I look forward to your thoughts on this film.

I got these recently for $15.

i got the Yojimbo/Sanjuro 2-pack. Usually i don't get a special edition when i already have a version of the movie, but this is the 3rd time (with Oldboy and Seven Samurai), so the movie's gotta be REALLY special to warrant that honor, and Yojimbo's just that good. Saw Sanjuro a while back and liked it, so i thought why not, i'll pick that up too.

Saw Sanjuro a while back and liked it, so i thought why not, i'll pick that up too. Well, speaking of double dipping for DVDs, I hate having to do it, but do it pretty often, only with films that I feel I NEED the features for, or a new print, or whatever. I have been meaning to do that with Seven Samurai actually; I have TWO copies of the one disc, and still don't have the three-disc. And what makes it even crazier; Seven Samurai is like my second favorite film ever! I saw Yojimbo a while ago, so I really need to pick it up and watch it again, and I still haven't seen Sanjuro, although I really want to. I will probably just blind buy that film with Yojimbo in the pack. Anyways, I just rented a bunch of cool stuff: Chinese Roulette (Rainer Werner Fassbinder) John and Yoko's Year of PeaceImagine: John LennonWomen on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown (Pedro Almodóvar) The Garden of the Finzi-Continis (Vittorio De Sica) Vagabond (Agnès Varda) What Have I Done to Deserve This? (Pedro Almodóvar)

Ugetsu, have you seen that before? If not, it should make you shit yourself. Todo sobre mi madre or All About My Mother (Pedro Almodóvar; 1999) Awesome, I hope you love this film, it is really amazing. Have you seen any other Almodovar? He seems like a director you might dig, I look forward to seeing what you think of this film.

I can't believe you haven't seen Manhattan either.
As for Ugetsu, I've seen it, it made me shit myself, and that was with a shitty-quality download and even shittier subtitles. Now just think of what it'll do to me with the real deal...

I wrote down my thoughts where they are supposed to go. Sorry! EDIT: I think I will enjoy this director, I can already see myself falling in love with his technique. Just not this time.
