Wow, what a coincidence, without even having looked in this thread I rented All About My Mother, watched it, and loved it. Only, I am not sure you will find it to be that much of a masterpiece, although there is a chance. It is very Cassavetes-esque, but it may or may not be your type of film, I do hope you love it though, there is no way you will not like the performances as least.

Have you seen either of these films? They are both truly amazing, and Shadows was my first Cassavetes, so it will also be special to me. And as for Branded to Kill, it is so much fucking fun, although I prefer Tokyo Drifter.

I have seen parts (a minute or so) of a Kurosawa film but not else. I will tell you what I think about Seven Samurai when I see it. I got these recently for $15.

i got the Yojimbo/Sanjuro 2-pack. Usually i don't get a special edition when i already have a version of the movie, but this is the 3rd time (with Oldboy and Seven Samurai), so the movie's gotta be REALLY special to warrant that honor, and Yojimbo's just that good. Saw Sanjuro a while back and liked it, so i thought why not, i'll pick that up too.

Well, speaking of double dipping for DVDs, I hate having to do it, but do it pretty often, only with films that I feel I NEED the features for, or a new print, or whatever. I have been meaning to do that with Seven Samurai actually; I have TWO copies of the one disc, and still don't have the three-disc. And what makes it even crazier; Seven Samurai is like my second favorite film ever! I saw Yojimbo a while ago, so I really need to pick it up and watch it again, and I still haven't seen Sanjuro, although I really want to. I will probably just blind buy that film with Yojimbo in the pack.
