latest batch: lcd soundsystem - us v them haven't really heard the new album, but i came across this track on shuffle and i loved it. i dare you not to tap your feet to this one. besnard lakes - on bedford and grand haven't heard the whole album yet, but this track is quite awesome and shows promise for this band i hadn't listened to before. Bro bro brah brah bro! I'm telling you now, that LCD Soundsystem album could be the best album of the year, I hope that track will inspire you to give the album a good listen. Before this album, I felt like LCD Soundsystem was all about one song, "Daft Punk Is Playing At My House." The rest of the first album sucked! This album destroys, at least 7 of the songs on this one are better than "Daft Punk"!!! North American Scum is a masterpiece of a song. That Besnard Lakes album is the shit too, 2007 is something special.

I heard that song so long ago, never saw the video though. I don't know if I want to recommend it or not, but I guess you've got to see it, even if it is only to say that you have.

Brown Eyed Girl - Sex Pistols (Van Morrison cover) Decent cover, just sped up and more British on the shala la la bit
The Larger Bowl - Rush Nice lyrics, a well contructed song that doesn't get boring
American Woman - Jimi Hendrix Awesome, great riffs from Hendrix, catchy as hell song

Tool - Ticks and Leeches Pink Floyd - Brain Damage Black Sabbath - After Forever After listening to all you lovely people around here have to say about music I am changing my ways I can't believe I've been so blindsighted and spent so long just listening to pop punk bands which are generally crappy. Save for a few you may not like but I do... Anyway, from now on I am going to broaden my horizons, which excites me...and get into some better music. Apologies for all the crap I've cited as good in the past. (except some it it that I still enjoy and you probably hate ) That is all.

^Nice! I can't wait until you hear some of this stuff you have been missing out on. But if you still love pop punk, don't hide it. Your taste is your taste and I'm never gonna bash it.

Of course I'll never totally discard pop punk because I'm pretty much brought up on the stuff and am around it a lot. Yet expansion into older bands and bands I'd never heard of is my new order of the month/year ;D and I'm really excited about it!

A couple 10/10's
The Avett Brothers- Paranola in B Major A banjo, a bass fiddle, and an acoustic guitar. Beautiful.
Cold War Kids- We Used To Vacation I was just yesterday in the worst stress in my High School life, but this song puts things in deep perspective. "It will all blow over in time." Shit, this is like already the most personal song ive ever listened to.

Mogwai - R U Still in 2 It (instrumental)
I haven't heard the with-words version, but I'm in love with this one. It's so beautiful, and I've listened to it fifty million gazillion times and I'm not bored (listening to it right now!). It almost makes me feel like crying, without words.
10/10 (yeah, I like a lot of songs that much)

Death Cab for Cutie - Lack of ColourYeah, usually I hate this band, but I camre across this song on its own,a nd it's really pretty. And when I see you I really see you upside down But my brain knows better It picks you up and turns you around Turns you around, turns you around
If you feel discouraged That there's a lack of color here Please don't worry lover It's really bursting at the seams Absorbing everything The spectrum's a to z
This is fact not fiction For the first time in years And all the girls in every girlie magazine Can't make me feel any less alone I'm reaching for the phone
To call at 7:03 and on your machine I slur a plea for you to come home But i know it's too late I should have given you a reason to stay Given you a reason to stay
This is fact not fiction For the first time in years9/10 The Books - Smells Like ContentBalance, Repition Composition, Mirrors
most of all the world is a place where parts of wholes are described whithin an overarching paradigm of clarity and accuracy the context of which makes possible an underlying sense of the way it all fits together despite our collective tendancy not to concieve of it as such
but then again the world without end is a place where souls are combined but with an overbearing feeling of disparity, disorderliness to ingnore is impossible without getting oneslef into all kinds of trouble despite one’s best intentions not to get entangled with it so much
and meanwhile the statues are bleeding green and others are saying things much better than we ever could as the quiet becomes suddenly verbose
and the hail is heralding the size of nickles, and the street corners are gnashing together like gears inside the head of some omnicient engineer and downward flows the garnered wisdom that has never died
when finally we opened the box we couldn’t find any rules our heads were reeling with a glut of possibilities, contingencies but with ever increasing faith we decided to go ahead and just ingnore them despite tremendous pressure to capitulate and fade
so instead we went ahead to fabricate a catalog of unstable elements and modicums and particles with non-zero total strangeness for brief moments which amount to nothing more than tiny fragments of a finger snap
and meanwhile we’re furiously sleeping green and the map has started tearing along it’s creases due to overuse when in reality, it’s never needed folds
and the air’s witholding the sound of its wellspring, and our heads are approacing a density reminiscient of the connectivity of the center of the sun and therein lies the garnered wisdom that has never died
expectation leads to disappointment if we don’t expect something big, huge, and exciting usually, uh... I don't know, it’s just not as, yeah...10/10 The most beautiful piece of words since my favourite books

(Please, someone, just watch this, it's really beautiful) I once fell in love with you Just because the sky turned from gray Into blue It was a good friday The streets were open and empty No more passion play On st. Violent Femmes - Blister in the Sun
Violent Femmes - Fat
Violent Femmes - Nightmares
I'm really enjoying this band at the moment. All their songs are so catchy and I like the singers voice, especially on blister in the sun. Also the lyrical content is stuff you can relate to.
The Eagles - Take it Easy Good
Death cab for cutie - A haunting and sad song. I like it a lot.

Violent Femmes - Blister in the Sun Violent Femmes - Fat Violent Femmes - Nightmares I'm really enjoying this band at the moment. All their songs are so catchy and I like the singers voice, especially on blister in the sun. Also the lyrical content is stuff you can relate to. Awesome to have another Violent Femmes fan on the forum, if you like their songs check out their debut album, it is perfect. "Blister in the Sun" is probably their best song, but they have others that could be better. Here are some song recommendations by them, if you are interested: "Kiss Off" - it is such a perfect song, and the live version of it is even better (!), "36-24-36" - just an awesome song to sing to, and "American Music". They have a bunch of other songs, but those are other good starting points for them. Please tell me if you check them out, I would like to know what you think. Oh yeah, and “Gone, Daddy Gone” is really good. Nico - My Funny Valentine 9/10 AWESOME! Nico is a goddess. What do you think of her voice? Personally, I think it is amazing. There is just something about it that makes it almost haunting. She is fantastic with Velvet Underground, but has some amazing solo stuff as well. Have you heard "The Fairest of the Seasons," "These Days," or "Chelsea Girls"? They are all of her album, “Chelsea Girl”. You should definitely check them out if you haven't. I have only heard one of her albums, and would like to check out her two follow-ups to “Chelsea Girl.”

Bright Eyes - "Four Winds" 9.9/10 (next time I listen to the song it will be a 10. ) Any fans out there? This song is so great; I can't stop listening to it. The first time I saw the video it caught my attention and I was stuck. I think you might dig this song, Kayla. Everyone should definitely check it out if you haven't. Video, watch this! Tell me what you think! Good Charlotte "The River" can't actually grade/10, but if I could, it would be quite high Holy hell, *guilty pleasure alert*. The only part about this song I don't like is the Avenged Sevenfold dude's part, other than that, it is pure gold. The chorus is just too catchy for me not to dig. I hate this band, too. Everyone should probably just listen to this song and tell me what you think, yeah. Video, watch this! The Flaming Lips - "Yeah Yeah Yeah Song" 9.5/10Holy hell, this is amazing. Anyone heard this? Video. Flaming Lips are awesome.
