The Captive Movie Soundtrack- The Edge 7.5/10 Atmospheric score music. But with a spectacular Edge touch. It is not usual U2 fare. It is pretty much the Edge playin his usual layered guitar with Brian Eno soundscapes. Sinead O' Connor sings on one track called Heroine. I love her voice and the track is the standout on the album. Just an album to put on when you are bored and need to calm down.

The Million Dollar Hotel Soundtrack- Bono and Various Artists 8/10 A decent soundtrack with some great U2 tracks. Bono dominates this album, appearing on almost every song. The Million Dollar Hotel Band cranks out a couple good ones also. But in the end, its just another soundtrack with some pretty bad songs. Especially the ones with the star of the movie singing them. But the U2 tracks clearly make up for them.

Red Hot Chili Peppers - Blood, Sugar, Sex, Magik 10/10 Best Chili Peppers album! Every song on here is amazing. Under the Bridge is one of my favorite songs ever. I will never get sick of this cd. Chili Peppers have such a unique style and energy I just love listening to them.

^AGREED! Dookie- Green Day 10/10 All you Greend Day haters out there, listen to this. It is a concise rocking CD of 14 tracks. The songs never let up, the riffs and melodies just keep on coming. Clearly their best CD along with Nimrod. Their other stuff is mediocre, ie American Idiot and Insomniac, or dismal, ie Warning and Shenanigans. Stick around after FOD ends. A very amusing track titled All By Myself comes in at around 5 minutes.

Amazing CD. I don't like Green Day to much anymore, but that CD is a great one.

Yea, so many people have ruined them for me. Me and Carlucci just went up to people wearing American Idiot and Green Day shirts last year and asked them to name three Green Day songs that are not on American Idiot. And we didnt get one person who could do it. Absolutly sickening!

Greatest Hits- The Band 10/10 Every time I listen to them, the Band move up on my favorite bands list. I think originally they were like 40th or something. Now they would be about 15th. They are so amazing! There songs really hit home because they dont use big riffs or pounding drums, just roots americana guitar and beautiful voices melding together in harmony. An often forgotten band that everyone should get into.

Stand Up- Dave Matthews Band 8/10 A huge disappointment for me as a massive fan. I would hope that after the harsh criticism that they received from their fans for going away from their organic sound on Everyday would change their minds about the new sound. But it did not. Some good songs on here, some that are a lot better the 6th or 7th time around. But there is a lot of stuff that I don't really think is all that great. Especially for a fantastic band like DMB. I hope they dont overload on this album when I see them in June.

I'd give that album something like a 6. Easily their worst album.

It is their worst, but it is definitely not a 6. Much better than that.

Harvest- Neil Young 10/10 Young is a master. He can play with so many different styles, this style happens to be mellow country. And it is just as good as his distorted guitar stuff. Contains some classic mellow Young such as Harvest, Heart of Gold, Old Man, and Needle and the Damage Done (Possibly the best drug song ever written). But the big surprise is the end of the Cd, with Words drawing out into a Crazy Horse like guitar workout. Great album from one of my favorite artists.

Axis:Bold as Love- The Jimi Hendrix Experience 10/10 Perfect. Jimi's essential album. It may not have the hits of AYE or the darkenss of Electric Ladyland, but this is where his tortured genious truly shows. Listening to songs such as Little Wing, One Rainy Wish, Wait Until Tommorrow, Bold as Love, and Castles Made of San. You will hear some of the best guitar playing ever. It is not loud or fast, just exquisite sounding. You must hear this album. Especially Little Wing. Possibly the best song ever written.

Living With War- Neil Young 8.5/10 This is protest music. This is Neil Young with a distorted guitar singing about how much he hates George Bush. He isn't subtle either. One track is called Let's Impeach the President. It is terrible to me that a Canadian citizen has to be the one who tells us what it wrong in our world. Somebody else should have stepped up. CONSERVATIVES BEWARE!!! Do not buy this album or listen to it. You will not like it no matter how much you like Neil Young. He is too scathing and brutal in his depiction of his hatred of the current President. Anyway, to the music. Neil's voice is spectacular and odd as usual. Every song is Neil cranking away on his distorted electric, which is never bad. The songs do seem to meld together at points, which is why I took points off. Another big disappoinment for me is that Neil doesn't sing America the Beautiful. Its just a choir and it is well done. But I would pay to hear Neil crank out his electric and wail America the Beautiful. www.repriserecords.com/The album is available to be listened to there.

I LOVED Prarie Wind! Neither are his best work, but both have different, equally great things to offer. They are probably the same for same as far as ratings go.

Okay, I've listened to so many albums in the past few days, so I'm not using my usual setup... Modest Mouse- The Moon and Antartica 9/10 Easily Modest Mouse's best. It kicks off amazingly with "3rd Planet" and continues to astonish.
Elvis Costello- This Year's Model 10/10 One of the best of all time. Perfect in every way.
R.E.M.- Life's Rich Pagent 9/10 Probably R.E.M.'s weakest 80's album, but it has a lot of great tunes, especially "Superman" (EASILY the best song bearing that overused song title)
The Beatles- Abbey Road 10/10 Dur! This is fantastic
Wolfe Tones- Rifles of the I.R.A. 10/10 A fantastic Irish folk album. Check out the Wolfe Tones, they're amazing.
That's all since Thursday...

Grace by Jeff Buckley. Tragically taken from us nearly 10 years ago. Ever wondered if God allows true geniuses to die early so he can have them in his own private band? What a line up: Jeff Buckley, SRV, Billy Mackenzie, John McGeoch, Jim Morrison......

Yes, he is. Everyone pictures him as a burning rock star, which he was. But he also had a really sensitive side.

Black Sabbath-Black Sabbath 10/10 The essential Black Sabbath album, even better than Paranoid. The CD starts out with rain and an ominous bell, then crashes into the three chord chug of "Black Sabbath", which is their signature song and my personal favorite. The songs get better and better climaxing at the end with a 14 minute blast of Iommi solos, Ozzy's signature howl, and a pounding backing. This is where heavy metal starts. One of the top 10 essential must haves for any fan of music.

Oh God, It is very hard for me to balance between CD's and DVD's, there are so many cd's I want but more dvd's. I will have to go all out sometime this summer and just buy like 20 cd's but for now I am saving for a certain momentous dvd occasion.

Matisyahu - Live at Stubbs 10/10!!! One of the best live albums I have ever heard. And one of the greatest this decade. His lyrics are amazing and some of the deepest. He is no fucking gimmick he is the real deal! Go buy this album now you will just be fucking blown away by him.

A Vulgar Display of Power- Pantera 9.5/10 A beast of modern metal. This is how metal should be done, none of that nu-metal stuff. On this disc, Pantera combines creepy, Sabbath like grooves with Metallica speed riffs and solos. Anselmo is a fantastic singer also. I wish this band was still around to show nu-metal bands how its done. RIP Dimebag!

Nimrod- Green Day 9/10 An excellent punk rock album from Green Day. But it also has some very un-characteristic songs on it. Everybody knows Good Riddance, but it also has a surf instrumental, Last Ride In, and metal, Take Back. There are two or three bland tracks on here, but the good ones more than make up for them.

Sulk by The Associates (1982) Secondhand Daylight by Magazine (1979/80) 2 of the best post-punk albums. I still play these all the time.
