To be honest, as I hear Matisyahu more and more, I've really grown to dislike him. Too much of his music sounds exactly the same and his studio tracks are quite awful. Not to mention the fact that he was pretty dismal when I saw him live.

Not to mention the fact that he was pretty dismal when I saw him live. That's how I feel as well. I was going to include a bit in a review of No Place to Be, which was really quite shameful, about how he makes it so damn hard for me to like anything he puts out.

Mmm you are something of a music fan You must make regular people who say they are fans of music feel somewhat ashamed that they aren't listening to the amounts you do! How do you have time, travel lots, don't have cable tv? ;D

I can relate to andruini on that. All of these are out of five. Italics are for read-ability, bold is for the noteworthy ones, in my opinion. Buena Vista Social Club - Buena Vista Social Club (1997) -- 4.5 (Great stuff) Ravi Shankar - Pandit Ravi Shankar (1986) -- 4.0 (A little more tedious a little less meditative than I like my raga) Sigur Rós - Ágætis byrjun (1999) -- 5.0 (I like this one more than ( ). More diversity and track three is something else.) Dave Matthews Band - The Gorge (2004) -- 3.5 (Good live discs, though the excessive instrumental passages could have been trimmed down) Pink Floyd - Meddle (1971) -- 4.5 (Solid, not my favorite Floyd release though. Mine's the common choice: Dark Side of the Moon.) India.Arie - Acoustic Soul (2001) -- 4.5 (Salavaged it from the trash and actually quite the surprise that I liked this one so much. That's a good sign along with one coming up starring Jared Leto...) Ziggy Marley and the Melody Makers - Joy and Blues (1993) -- 4.0 (Good) Lynyrd Skynyrd - (pronounced 'lĕh-'nérd 'skin-'nérd) -- 4.5 (Not a fan, but this album was convincing me elsewise) 30 Seconds to Mars - 30 Seconds to Mars (2002) -- x (Horseshit. On RYM, this gets a 1.5 only because I'm not going to hand out .5s to bands that don't work for it. Effort, man.) Foo Fighters - Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace (2007) -- ? (Seemed like a generic Foo release until I heard Ballad of the Beaconsfield Miners. That's about two points right there; seriously.) David Newman - Serenity OST (2005) -- 3.5 (Generic movie soundtrack that doesn't work outside of the movie. End theme works, oddly enough, though that's probably because it might have been lifted verbatim from Pirates of the Caribbean.) For more information, contact your local library.

R.E.M.- Accelerate 10/10 A welcome return for R.E.M. hearkening back to the days of Murmur. The fast paced songs have melodies galore and the album doesn't overstay its welcome. Oddly, the only song I really don't care for is the first single, Supernatural Superserious.

I see what you mean about "Supernatural Superserious," it's certainly the weakest track on the album.

Beth Rowley - Little Dreamer She has a beautiful voice and nearly all the songs are a different style. You have folk, blues, gospel and jazz type songs. Blues is what she does best though, and most of the songs are prominently bluesy. The song so sublime was my favourite. Very simple and catchy. Overall it wasn't an 'amazing' album though, it's I think, half good and half meh!A duet called angel flying close to the ground is certainly the worst song, it's very sappy 7/10 I think LCD soundsystem - Sound of silver I think the title track is actually the weakest on the album, but nearly everything else is good. Favourites are time to get away and north american scum, great lyrics, and the slow, melancholy type end song New York, I love you but you're bringing me down. A very good song, love the speed up at the end 9/10 The Raconteurs - consolers of the lonely Absolutely fantastic - I don't think, musically, there is a weak song on the album. You really get the feeling that a lot of effort has gone into every song, no filler. The guitar work is better than the first album, and the songs styles are quite varied. One of the best songs is many shades of black, its like a queen song mixed with a white stripes song. Aside from this song, other stuff is mainly fast with the usual excellent vocals of Jack White and yes, really catchy guitar riffs and lyrical hooks. I'm on my fifth listen and liking it more all the time. Great album. 10/10 Amy Winehouse - Frank Sad, thoughtful, catchy, lyrically introspective songs. I love the womans voice, and the arrangements are always good, it's well mixed. Favourite song is definitely fuck me pumps, followed by you sent me flying. I'm loving this album right now, it's in heavy rotation. 10/10 Amy Winehouse - Back to black I don't like it as much. It's still very good, most of the songs just don't appeal to me. I do love 'rehab' though, and love is a losing game is a beautiful song. 8/10 Test icicles - for screening purposes only I'm not sure what to think of this. It's very shouty and heavy at times, unique, cool music but sometimes overdone, repetetive and a bit annoying. Sort of undecided, but I'm leaning more towards the 'it's just noisy', than it's good noise... 6/10 Matisyahu - youth Well the title track is good. I don't know if I like any of the other songs though. All Matisyahu does is sing fast and most of the songs sound so fucking similar. Weak 3/10 Jim Noir - Tower of love Meh, it's alright. The songs are simple but creatively sung. It's a sunny sort of album but some of it is a bit kinda childish and the voice is mixed stupidly at times. 5/10 So it's been a very mixed week of listens

I've only heard Broken Boy Soldiers by them, but haven't heard Consolers of the Lonely. I guess I'll have to listen to it.

Franz Ferdinand-- Tonight: Franz Ferdinand- 9/10 Better than the second record, not quite as good as the first. A couple of these tracks are kind of stock, but the rest of the album is fantastic. I love "Lucid Dream" most, but there are many fun, extremely catchy songs on the album.
Bruce Springsteen- Working on a Dream- 8/10 A slight disappointment after Magic, but still a solid effort. There are some excellent tracks here: "Outlaw Pete", "Queen of the Supermarket", "Kingdom of Days", and "The Wrestler". But a lot of it is solid, but not amazing. Bruce drops an unexpected f-bomb near the end of "Queen of the Supermarket," so that's something to listen for. Certainly a must for hardcore fans, but not essential for anyone else.

Kevin Devine - Brother's Blood 4.5/5
That's all I got to say. This guy is seriously amazing. I can't wait to check out all his other albums.

Elements of Life- Tiesto 8/10
Been getting more into trance lately, this was recommended to me as Tiesto's best album and it was pretty damn good. Title track is absurd and He's A Pirate is a pretty sick remix.

Yeah, Kevin Devine is amazing. I checked him out when I thought I'd be seeing him opening for Brand New (wound up going to a later date where Glassjaw was opening). The song you posted and "Another Bag of Bones" are fantastic. I still haven't checked out his earlier stuff.
