I'm about halfway through Samurai III.
I feel I'd appreciate it more if I knew the underlying story more, since I recognized some characters from the Vagabond manga, but I'm still just not feeling the overall movie. It's like 60% like, 40% don't/not interested.

Iron Man 2 - 1.5/5
Why do I find movies with the most action the most boring? Iron Man 2 was so incredibly boring to me. There were two redeeming qualities: Mickey Rourke was hard as fuck and Scarlett Johansson was hot as fuck. That’s it. I was hoping for a slightly above average superhero flick and what I got was a boring, generic and typical comic book movie that is so forgettable it hurts. Maybe if you were into Iron Man you’d enjoy it, I have no idea, though. P.S. Any “humor” attempted failed miserably and came across as completely forced and annoying.

Everybody I know who saw that movie said it was no where near as good as the first one. Sequels just probably shouldn't happen in general.

Yeah, I liked the first movie, and you all know I'm a huge comic book nerd, but even I am completely unexcited about Iron Man 2. The trailers look so weak.

I never saw the first one, but I heard this one could be watched without having seen the first. Even if I find out that is untrue, I highly doubt I'd ever go back and watch the first. It wouldn't change anything.

Nightmare on Elm Street (remake) .5/5
The lead actress was absolutely TERRIBLE. She could not deliver a single line in the film. Not to mention they made Freddy before he was burned act like he has down syndrome. It was embarrassing. There was none of the original charm or originality. Guaranteed if this storyline had never been in a movie before this, and this was completely original, no one would care at all. It fits right in with every single other horror movie that is coming out. They all look exactly the same and do nothing new.

You don't think Gallo is a good actor? He's so fucking good! I really enjoyed the movie, I thought they all delivered great performances and the cinematography was amazing.
Melinda and Melinda 3/5
It was pretty good, but not one of Woody Allen's better films. It was just enjoyable, nothing more.

I agree with you the other kid was great, but Gallo just has a certain style that I love. I think all his performances are realistic and unique. Well, on second thought, they may not be incredibly realistic, but they are very interesting and they just have a certain style. I love his voice and how he gets mad and accentuates words.
Anyways, I re-watched Evil Dead II and Kids tonight. Easily both 5s. Both are two of my all-time favorites movies ever. I love Kids more and more with each viewing, I think I know about 80% of the lines now. And Evil Dead II is hilarious. The ending had me rolling on the floor even after having seen it at least 15 times.

Just watched The Vanishing (the original). I didn't know there was a remake till after I watched it. It was really good. Amazing performances and very creepy. I do have to point out that it has the single worst and misleading trailer I've ever seen. 4/5
And re-watched A Serious Man. So fucking good. The ending blows me away every time! 5/5

Moon 3.5/5
Definitely worth watching. One of the best modern sci-fi films I've seen. It's like Solaris meets 2001. Rockwell gives an amazing performance(s).

My Effortless Brilliance 3/5
Pretty decent mumblecore. I actually started to care about the characters' relationship. The movie was pretty funny, too, with good performances. It was the director of Humpday's second feature. Not as good as Humpday. I look forward to her next movie.

High Tension 4/5
Great modern horror film that would have been even more amazing without the fucking retarded as fuck twist at the end. Still worth seeing, though. It actually kind of scared me.

Last House on the Left (original) 4.5/5
The score is probably boosted after having seen how terrible the remake is. Definitely a classic horror film that is still powerful, and surprisingly purposefully funny.
Chloe 3/5
Amanda Seyfried is so fucking hot! Main reason I watched this film. If you enjoy more realistic soap operas/Jerry Springer-type stuff this film will be very entertaining for you. It isn't great, but it is still an enjoyable watch about Julianne Moore hiring prostitute Amanda Seyfried to see if her husband will/is cheating on her. Pretty decent thriller.

palindromes 5/5
i couldn't tell how i should rate this movie. should i rate it solely on quality/enjoyment or should i rate it on will i ever see something like this again/enjoyment. i went with the latter and give it 5. second best solondz i have seen next to happiness. i haven't seen his new film. this is a sequel to welcome to the dollhouse, but that isn't the main story. once you get over the fact that like 8 different girls play the main character from one scene to the next and some are white, some black, some old, etc. it is fucking insane. i enjoyed this to the extreme. i was laughing, shaking my head, in shock, and couldn't believe some things. definitely recommended, worth seeing just for the brother from welcome to the dollhouse (my favorite part of that movie) and the hilarious christian songs sung by a group of kids with disabilities.

Finished Samurai III. The ending of Samurai I is good on paper, but it just didn't make me come the way it could have, you know? I later read the manga Vagabond, which is also based off of the novel Musashi, and I thought that had a better impact, overall. Plus, it has tits. The Samurai trilogy does not. Clearcut winner? Perhaps. Fido - 3/5 A little low because while I liked the idea, some of the plot points were really groan-worthy. Pun un-intended. See spoiler tag for more: One example: Timmy's bloody baseball being a MAJOR plot point, highlighted several times on camera, was lame. Okay, we get that you don't want to figure out a more natural way of telling the story, so you rely on a cheap story gimmick (1 in 1,000,000 chance of this happening). We get it.
I did like the twist where Fido did not need the collar. That was clever. Some of the sexual exploits (man, is that all I think about these days?) between Mr. Theopolis (Mr. Hunter S Thompson) and Tammy, as well as between Fido and the mom, were noteworthy because of how subtle they were.

The Housemaid 4/5
It's on The Auteurs for free. It was really great with an amazing and surprising ending. Often called one of the best Korean films ever made.
Empire of Passion 5/5
See this movie. The Criterion transfer is outstanding, just look it up on Google. Besides looking beautiful it's also a great ghost story.
Punishment Park (re-watch) 5/5
Still amazing. I love the idea and I love how it is done. The performances are so fucking realistic.
Amores Perros (re-watch) 5/5
This re-watch made it move even further up my list. I really love this movie.

i hated limits of control so much. it was so fucking boring. i am used to jarmusch having slow movies, which i normally love, but this was beyond slow. and there was nothing worth mentioning.
i watched two easy movies:
10 things i hate about you 3.5/5
i actually really enjoyed this film. heath and levitt are great. it was just a fun teen comedy and a little bit better than your average one.
bart got a room 2.5/5
i watched this on netflix instant watch knowing exactly what to expect, an easily digestible indie comedy that tries really hard to be quirky. that's what i got. it was still pretty enjoyable and somewhat funny. william macy was hilarious but the ending was really weak.

video.google.com/videoplay?docid=4595943551120286335#just started watching freddy's nightmares series. it lasted two seasons and this pilot was directed by tobe hooper. it's pretty fun and shows his trial/pre-burns. the whole series stars robert englund so that's a positive. i'd say this episode is like a 3/5. there are at least the first 4-5 episodes on google video!

in honor of seijun suzuki's birthday i watched tattooed life (4/5). it was a fun yakuza movie that was entertaining to watch throughout, though not one of his best. the end fight stuff was great. it definitely influenced tarantino.
i also watched the entire season one of how to make it in america. so fucking great. a show that really fits exactly what i want to see in a show. it's very hipsterish, very easy to watch, hilarious. guzman is fucking genius on it. and kid cudi even plays a small role. i pray they make a season two.
and i watched all the episodes of party down that are out for season two so far. it's great. it's just as good as season one was and well worth watching. if you like entourage or any shows like it, this is perfect. martin starr is on it and he is hilarious. plays a terrible sci-fi writer. it's great.

i watched a bunch of movies. i think i saw the single worst movie ever, zaat. if you get the chance to see it, do it. i couldn't believe how terrible it was. .5/5
i also saw to die for tano, a mafia musical. it was really fun and colorful and entertaining. some of the songs were good, too. it wasn't mindblowing, but an easy watch. 2.5/5
mystery team. people should watch it, it's hilarious. i am excited for the director's next movie, he seems to have a good eye/ear for comedy. he does the derrick comedy stuff. 4/5
re-watched ran. i loved it way more than ever. something even deeper clicked with me, now it's so beyond a 5/5.
i watched zombieland. i thought it was really weak and cliche. anyone who watched ANY two zombie movies could have wrote it and probably done it better. still enjoyed watching it somewhat. 2/5
human centipede. hahah. this movie was fucking hilarious. it was just so absurd and fun. i would never call it one of the best horror movies or anything but it was interesting and fun to watch. i'd recommend it if you think the trailer looks good. 2.5/5

It Might Get Loud 8/10 An interesting documentary on the electric guitar with Jimmy Page, The Edge, and Jack White. Some really cool scenes investigating Page's time as a session man and The Edge's pedal board. The three of them jam "The Weight" out during the credits, which is really cool as well. Definitely worth checking out for music fans.

Splice 7.5/10 I was originally against this movie, just seemed like another terrible summer horror movie especially since Adrien Brody hasn't exactly been stellar lately. But then it got really good reviews and I just had to see it. The premise is awesome, its been awhile since I've seen a new horror movie that actually presents a timely moral dilemma. Plus, Brody is excellent and carries the film. The ending is cliche and the movie's third section is a huge disappointment after the stellar beginning and middle. Yet, I really enjoyed it and I'm glad that I decided to see it.

The Ghost Writer Great thriller in the tradition of Hitchcock. The pace and tone of this movie is wonderfully slow and quiet, which is nice, since most modern suspense films are so loud. Polanski's still got it, for sure.

i've seen a bunch:
cabin fever 2 3/5
you have to know what to expect going into this. it's pretty gross out horror but with a sense of humor. it's really enjoyable and has an older horror-feel to it. didn't enjoy it as much as the original, but still fun.
rocky trails 4/5
if you love 80s horror movies this is hilarious! they nailed the homage/parody down and it had me laughing the whole time. you can find it online to watch if you want.
party monster 2/5
this sounds like it would be amazing just looking at the cast, but i just couldn't get into it. felt very mediocre, still some decent aspects. loved caulkin and chloe. it just should have been a lot better than it was.
hot tub time machine 3/5
this was surprisingly funny and a fun movie. nothing amazing just better than the normal stupid comedy. i love lizzy caplan.
knife in the water 3/5
eh, very slow. definitely can tell it was an early work from polanski. still decent and shows potential.
through a glass darkly 4/5
really great start to this silence of god trilogy. each character is very deep and the photography is obviously amazing.
