Barry Lyndon (Kubrick, Stanley 1975 IMDB) 10/10Being long and drawn-out does not take anything away from the film. It actually adds to the film giving me the chance to watch and enjoy the characters and cinematography. It is just a beautiful film perfectly acted and directed. In fact there are too many good performances to name. The colors and shots in the film are just stunning. Love all the characters and love watching them develop. If you have not seen this it is a definite must. Kubrick is THE MASTER. Black Narcissus (Michael Powell & Emeric Pressburger 1947 IMDB) 9/10One of the absolutely most beautiful color films I have ever seen. It started off very slow and I didn’t think it would go anywhere. I was dead wrong. A film about nuns trying to set up schools hospitals for natives that can't speak english in the Himalayas. The cinematography is just amazing and I was stunned to find out it was all shot on a back lot! A couple performances are so-so but the two leads Kerr and Farrar are amazing. Farrar is often hilarious in his role. The best performance in the whole film is by Byron as Sister Ruth. She is haunting and scary to watch. First Powell and Pressburger film I have seen and I must see more. Dumbland (Lynch, David 2002 IMDB) 8/10Terribly drawn, ridiculous in everyway but funny never the less. A very short 8 episode series about nothing, this is just a crazy-ass show. But fun to watch. Elephant (Sant, Gus Van 2003 IMDB) 9/10Amazing Van Sant film with no story, it merely shows an average high school day. It shows the movie from many kids’ perspectives showing some scenes, from different eyes, more than once. It is haunting with brilliant uses of Beethoven’s “Fur Elise.” It is slow moving and just builds and builds to the very Columbine-like climax. Sant never really gives us answers as to why the stuff happens; he just presents it and lets us decide on our own. Camerawork is brilliant as it follows each kid through the high school halls. An important, chilling film that must be seen!

All the ones I've watched since I twisted my fucking ankle... mainly ETC. (John Jansen; 2001) A very good film, even if you're not the biggest Nirvana fan (like myself). Very funny at points and very good characters. 8.5/10 Jackie Brown (Quentin Tarantino; 1997) Rewatch. An interesting film from Tarantino. Probably my least favorite of his, but still great nonetheless... 9/10 Hero (Zhang Yimou; 2002) A great "wire-fu" movie. Not as good as House of Flying Daggers, though. 9.5/10 Shaun of the Dead (Edgar Wright; 2004) Excellent movie. I could watch this movie every day. Perfect film. 10/10 Sonatine (Takeshi Kintano; 1993) Kintano's best. I love the slow pace the film works at. The mood shifts that Murakawa can make are haunting. Perfect film, no matter what BeeD says. 10/10

Sex, Lies, and Videotape (Steven Soderbergh; 1989) Rewatch. This is probably still my favorite Soderbergh film. It is perfect in every way. The way all the characters change throughout the film is amazing. Really a wonderful movie. 10/10

Tystnaden (The Silence) Great, great cinematography and an interesting studie of two sisters and a young boy`s relationship with each other. Bergman never dissapoint, and this great film also show his undeniable talent, both in bringing together wonderful pictures and bringing up immortal themes, often hidden under the surface. A wonderful film. Space JamOh, I got nostalgic while watching this. Very good for what it is and surprisingly entertaining. I like it.

Stanley Kubrick: A Life in Pictures (Harlan, Jan 2001 IMDB) 10/10Great documentary about Kubrick. It starts at his early years and goes all the way up to his death interviewing friends, family, and co-workers. It is a great look at the man and what he was like on the set and how demanding he was. Any fan of Kubrick should definitely check this out; I can never get enough of Kubrick. Now all I have left his Kubrick’s early films, which I will check out soon. Dazed and Confused (w/ Linklater Commentary) 10/10Amazing Linklater solo track. I could listen to him talk for hours; he is just very laid back talking about other movies, music, and other fun little things. It is just an info-filled track that is great fun to listen to. If you are a fan of Dazed you must check this out!

Feux Rouges (Cedric Kahn, 2004). A very classy, sophisticated & cerebral thriller. Wise nods to Clouzot & Hitchcock. Fantastic central performance. Highly recommended. ****/***** Match Point (Woody Allen, 2005). Am I the only person on the planet to think that Match Point is far from Woody's best? I admit that the narrative was compelling and that the central moral issue was poignant and well handled. But on the other hand, there was no chemistry between Meyers & Johanssen. Their scenes felt forced & unbelievable; The whole cast were pretty much one dimensional cyphers; I was hoping he would shoot his wife (Mortimer) who was the epitome of movie stupidity: did she need the fact that he was having an affair written in braille & shoved up her arse? SJ character was very irritating. Highlight for me was Ewen Bremner (always good value) & the scene where he kept getting interrupted outside the flat after the murders. Disappointing. ***/*****

I dont think Match Point was his best, but I do think it was a return to form. Sure some performances, particularly Mortimer's were not as good as they could have been, but overall the pace and the plot twist made up for it IMO.

The spy who shagged me. Funny in an absurd kind of way but overall quite bad. 4/10
Jarhead. I'd heard much about this from my brother, telling me its like the funniest film ever. It was funny for about 30 minutes though inbetween the humour their was some nasty violence. I didn't think it was very anyway, theirs really a point when swearing and jokes about being gay become dull and I was bored of the whole message about waiting for little in a foreign place message after about 40 minutes. By 80 minutes I'd fallen asleep. 6/10 Jake Gyllenhalls performance isn't bad and their are some truly funny moments.

I saw Sono otoko, kyôbô ni tsuki (Violent Cop) yesterday (rewatch). Oh my god, what a great film this really is! Now I noticed so many more details and symbols put into the film. It`s amazing how the story is told, not necesserily the story itself. Kitano`s directing and performance are so genuinly trustworthy. The pain inside the main character (Kitano) is shown through his violent actions and symbols that show his coldness to the world around him. Just brilliant, Kitano. BRILLIANT! Go and see this if you haven`t. See it twice (I needed a second viewing).

Being John Malkovich (Spike Jonze) (1999) Wow! What a unique, strange, and different film this was. Probably the most creative concept and execution I've seen since Brazil. The entire cast is superb, with Malkovich stealing the show (not to mention Brad Pitt with one of the funniest wordless cameos in recent memory). The story's definitely one of the most creative I've ever seen. A vastly underappreciated film. It's gonna be a classic someday. 10/10

Great film, with great everything (story, soundtrack, acting, direction). I love this as much as the first time. I can see, though, where the comparisons are drawn...Scorcese's use of scene-specific music is very similar to GoodFellas, as is Pesci's character. I agree that they stand apart for their own separate merits, but I personally thought GoodFellas was a much better film, with a more immersive story and more fleshed-out characters.

Dumbland 0/10 Easily the dumbest thing I have ever seen. How can Lynch stoop to such low depths? Basket Case 8/10 for how much I like it, as a movie a 5/10 Had a blast watching this. B-movie horror at its finest. Performances are awful and plot is rediculous. But in the end, none of that matters, its just a bloody good time.

Yeah I see what you are saying and I also like Goodfellas more. how can you watch dazed and confused so much? You seem to have watched it about 20 times in the last week or so.... LOL, I just love watching it. It is one of the most fun movies ever and just a movie that I could never get sick of. Anyway... Basket Case (re-watch x2) 10/10! I watched this two times in one day. It is easily one of the best so-good-they-are-bad movies. The movie actually has some genuinely good moments as well. It is just too much fun and I could also watch this forever. Dumbland (re-watch) 8/10Yes I still stand by ridiculous score of 8/10 if only for how ridiculously bad this is. It makes me laugh just thinking about it. Catch Me If You Can (Spielberg, Steven 2002 IMDB) 10/10I hate to give this a ten but it was so damn entertaining and fun. I mean how someone could watch this a not love it and enjoy themselves immensely while watching is beyond me. The performances are all great, if only Walken would stop doing terrible films and turning himself into a self-parody and do films like these. DeCaprio is really great and he doesn't seem to get enough respect as an actor (his performance in What's Eating Gilbert Grape? is brilliant and heartbreaking as well as tons of others). The story is inspired by truth and is about a man turning to a life of crime traveling around writing fake checks and moving from place to place. Tom Hanks follows him like a hawk but always seems to be one step behind. One of my favorites scenes is where they finally meet and Hanks doesn’t even know it! You know where the story is going to end up but it’s a blast seeing it get there. And the way the story is told going in and then out of past and present works perfectly. It reminds me very much of Charade style thrillers, especially the opening credits. Go see this for one hell of a good time!

Rewatched Dazed and Confused twice, once with commentary. Both times 10/10! Casino 10/10 Really good. Rewatched Catch Me If You Can 10/10! One of the most fun films ever!!!!!!!!!!! Dumbland rewatch. 3/112. BeeD you know it is at least a .2 you were laughing through the whole thing. Saved the best for last... Watched Basket Case twice. One of my favorite films. This movie is a classic. That's all there is to it. You need to watch it. You need to go watch it now. If you don't know what it's about, don't find out. They put the picture of him on the DVD cover, wich makes me mad, because if you're seeing this for the first time you can not know what he looks like. This film changed my life. I could watch this forever and not get borred of it in anyway at all. I would allways be laughing durring this film it's just so funny and so much fun. Easily one one of the greatest horror films ever in the history of all film. This is how I want every film to be, I can just watch it forever and not get tired of it at all. So many amazing kills. The acting is just breathtaking(not really, but I like it). Duane is great, but I love Belial, easily top 5 best film characters ever. Man I love this film and I got one more thing to say. Whats in the basket?

Kicked back and popped in a little, Vampire Drive-in Double Feature! Incense for the Damned { Blood Suckers} (Hartford-Davis, Robert 1971 IMDB) 8/10Billed “ Freedom Seekers” at the front of the film. I loved this movie, I see online at various places this has bad reviews!? This was just a fun-ass vampire film to say the least. It’s about, well you watch and see. Peter Cushing is in the film and it is actually pretty well acted all around. Psychedelic orgies, gore, hilarious bad dialogue, nudity, and vampires, what’s not to love? I had a blast watching this and I am sure many other people would to. Blood Thirst (Arnold, Newt 1971 IMDB) 7/10Above average “vampire” film. I really see no vampires, but there is blood drinking and I am not going to complain. The film is about a sex-crimes specialist from New York who travels to the Philippines to help his friend, a Manila homicide detective, solve a series of murders. I really did love the wise cracking lead in the film. And there were other good elements to it like the monster in the film! Overall a good end to a fun double feature. As a part of this Drive-in double feature they have some other great goodies like trailers and intermissions that were a blast to see, but also two short films were included… The Horny Vampire (Steckler, Ray Dennis 1971 IMDB) 2/10Not good at all. Poor acting, terribly unfunny jokes, and other things that suck. I did smirk at the end “gag” so it wasn’t pointless. And there were some “girls” naked in the thing so it was at least somewhat bearable. Midsummer Nightmare – 5/10Can’t even find this on IMDB but it was much more enjoyable than the other one. It is a nudie-short about nothing with two hot girls in it. **Buy this excellent Something Weird DVD package HERE. Also watched this… Boffo! Tinseltown's Bombs and Blockbusters (Couturié, Bill 2006 IMDB) 8/10This was a great documentary about Hollywood blockbusters. A lot of informative interviews with various people and tons of fun clips. I enjoyed watching this very much.

Since last time: Fargo: 8/10 Seen many times before. Wonderful mix of comic and tragic elements. William H. Macy is just fantastic in this one. Hilarious! The Godfather p. III: 8/10 Seen many times before. Though the two others are much better, this is a fucking great film, shown undeserved disrespect by many. Dr. Strangelove: 8/10 Seen many times before. Great satire. Kubrick + Sellers = ;D (Above: One of the greatest scenes/film moments in the history of cinema!) Team America: World Police: 7/10 Great satire this also! It drags a bit near the end, and the jokes seems to drown in its own mess sometimes, but overall this is a superb satire with many funny elements put into it. Battle Royale: 7.5/10 Now, the third time I saw it, I wasn`t THAT impressed. A good film, but some unnecessary melodrama and other details was not that welcome this time. Ghost Dog: 9/10 I love this film. There is nothing more to say for the moment.
