I can't believe you haven't seen Manhattan either. As for Ugetsu, I've seen it, it made me shit myself, and that was with a shitty-quality download and even shittier subtitles. Now just think of what it'll do to me with the real deal... Yeah, *shoots self*. I heard it is Woody's best film, too. Is it your favorite? Oh man, Criterion's quality is fucking amazing. I haven't watched the features yet, but they look amazing. I think there is a huge-ass doc on the second disc.

Awesome, I hope you love this film, it is really amazing. Have you seen any other Almodovar? He seems like a director you might dig, I look forward to seeing what you think of this film. I wrote down my thoughts where they are supposed to go. Sorry! EDIT: I think I will enjoy this director, I can already see myself falling in love with his technique. Just not this time. Commenting your thoughts shortly.

Yeah, *shoots self*. I heard it is Woody's best film, too. Is it your favorite? no, it's my 3rd favorite, actually. Still a masterpiece, though.

Prepare to die. I hope you haven't seen it, so you are watching it for the first time? Yeah, *shoots self*. I heard it is Woody's best film, too. Ah, I see, well I am going to watch it right now actually, thoughts should follow sometime over my Easter break in the Woody Allen thread.

Prepare to die. I hope you haven't seen it, so you are watching it for the first time? You are correct, it sounds massive. 24 characters? Did Altman basically invent this type of narrative?

It sounds like it, I am reading this book: Easy Riders, Raging Bulls, and it talks a lot about Altman, and that he was one of the people that "changed" film, so I doubt many people did this kind of film before (I am not too Nashville yet, so I will get back to you if they address that at all). But I can tell you that all 24 characters might not seem as interesting as each other, but as they go they all work so well, and are completely entertaining at the end of the film.

Can't say the same for Ocean's Eleven, I hated it, and I kinda like Soderbergh, too. You should check out the original sometime, that is a good film. Passion of Joan of Arc is one of the best films ever made, and the best silent film I have ever seen. Did you watch it yet? Had you seen it before? What did you think of it? Feel free to post it in the Criterion thread for it if you want. Also, did you watch the film with the score?

I saw some of film with the music and it fits surprisingly well. It's one of the best scores that I've ever heard. And if you find a performance better than that of Falconetti I would be shocked. It's as if she's not acting at all.

I do want to try it one time totally silent though. Her performance is in the top performances of any sex, ever [imo]. The only actress I can think of who might be as good is Gena Rowlands. She is a master, and her performances also feel like she isn't acting. Have you seen any of her films? Rented: The Man Who Loved Women (François Truffaut) Anyone seen this film? I am in a huge Truffaut mood at the moment.

Got: The Conformist The Battle of Algiers City Lights Holy shit, Opening Night may kill you; her performance, as well as Cassavetes’, are both beyond great. The whole ending will [hopefully] remind you of why you love film. You need to get on that one! Battle of Algiers is one of the best films I have ever seen in my whole life, City Lights is the second best silent film I have seen probably, although I gave it a 9/10. I started a thread for it in the silent films section and I wrote my thoughts, although it may have been the mood I was in.

Spider-Man 2 is my favorite movie of all time ( Seven Samurai is the BEST film I've ever seen, but this is my favorite one) and seeing how it holds that title (until SM3 comes out that is ) and I'm a huge Spidey fan, this is a no brainer for me. Actually though, word is that this double dip is actually worth it and makes the already amazing SM2 better! Plus, it was only $13 at Best Buy so it wasn't like I spent another $20 or so on something I already had (even though I would for Spidey).

You will have to tell us how that Phantasm DVD is, I would be willing to double dip if it was anything super special.

I got a used copy of this for 32 bucks I love HG Lewis, I am thinking about starting a thread for him soon, and would like to hear your thoughts as you watch those films. Anyways, I bought: I love the film, and needed it for my collection, and Borders let me use my savings money, so I got it for free. Also, I rented: Andy Warhol (Artists of the 20th Century) The Sixties: The Years That Shaped a GenerationThe Philadelphia Story (George Cukor) Casey Kasem's Rock & Roll Goldmine (The Soul Years; The San Francisco Sound, The British Invasion) River's Edge* (Tim Hunter) *Based on the lordofdance recommendation.
