Given as Gift: Pretty Odd- Panic at the Disco To listen or not to listen, hmm? Wow, I'm surprised you would have this album even if it was a gift. Wouldn't you think it would be something I would have?

Yes, would you like me to give it to you? Well, aren't you going to listen to it first? If you don't like it or want it I wouldn't mind having it. I haven't heard it yet, so I don't know what to expect.

Ah, the gift of giving.
The Bitches Brew Complete Sessions (aka Bitches Brew on discs one and half of two, with some other music taken from the same year) is a great set. I borrowed it from the library and that certainly is something to take a gander at, but I just can't get into the music. Does nothing for me. I still have a couple months to listen to it, though.

Weezer- The Red Album Easily their best since Pinkerton. There are a couple weak tracks, but overall, it's a huge step up from the last few, if not as good as the Blue Album or Pinkerton.

I heard a bit of that the other day. Everyone on RYM is trashing it but it wasn't that bad. I tried Make Believe a few months ago and just couldn't get into it at all, so a step up from that I suppose.

Lately I've been buying a good amount of music; Here is what I've gotten;
My Morning Jacket - Evil Urges Really good album, full of good songs which vary in style a nice amount. I thought the title track was actually one of the weakest on the album, along with the touch me I'm going to scream parts one and two (I'm indifferent towards them), and good intentions. Although I really like everything else, personal highlights being Librarian, Thankyou Too, Sec Walkin and Two Halves. Anyone else think Sec Walkin sounds like the Beegees?! Then two halves sounds a lot like a Costello song. Ahh I love this band and'll be listening to this for a good while to come.
Seasick Steve - Dog House Music Seasick Steve is a great bluesman and most of the tunes on here are sweet! He sounds good on electric of acoustic, Save Me and Fallen Off A Rock are the best tracks, but nothing is especially bad or overdone.
The Wombats - A Guide to Love, Loss and Desparation Somebody borrowed me this album. It's okaaay, some of the songs are quite fun but none of it appeals to me especially.
Fleet Foxes - self-titled - Amazing new band! Fleet Foxes sound a little bit like the Beach Boys, but really they are true originals, incomparable to other stuff. Their music is at once tribal and folksy, high pitched and choir like, and a little bit rocky. The whole album is awesome, they're signed to subpop and I highly reccommend people to check 'em out!
Coldplay - Viva la Vida - I haven't fully explored Coldplays new album, but from a few listen throughs I think it's good. Many of the songs don't stick out especially though, and i think the best tracks are the two singled (in the UK at least) which are Viva La Vida, which has a great epic sort of sound, ans Violet Hill. beautiful Chorus. 42 is another good song, just another high calibur piano song from the band.
Dinosaur Jr. - Bug This is the first dinosaur Jr. album I've heard all the way through. It's their first right? Anyway, I really like it. Freak scene, let it ride and budge are my favourites, good lyrics.

G-Man - Sonny Rollins Brilliant Corners - Thelonious Monk Walkin' - Miles Davis Allstars Plus 4 - Sonny Rollins Charles Mingus Presents Charles Mingus - Charles Mingus That's It - Booker Ervin
Fucking great value for $20 a month I'd say!

I passed on buying a couple $1 CDs today, including Under the Table and Dreaming as well as the Return of the Living Dead soundtrack. I really dropped the ball this time, I guess.

Lush Life - John Coltrane Introducing Johnny Griffin - Johnny Griffin Mingus ah hum - Charles Mingus
Good albums indeed.
Did I mention fleet foxes? Anyone who doesn't have their album really should. It is absolutely stonking. It's magical and glorious and haunting and beautifully melodic. I highly highly reccommend subpops newest gem of a band!
Please check them out and get back to me!

UTTAD for one dollar and you didn't buy it? You make Chris sad We always knew I was a horrible person. This just provided additional evidence for that. I know I should have bought it to give it more tries, but then I didn't feel like buying anything. I kind of hid it though so in case I ever go back, it might still be there... edit: Fine, fine, I've check out Fleet Foxes, because you suggested them and they're a Seattle band. It's not too bad of an album, but it's not in my Top 100 of this year. (I gave it a 5/10.)

$1 each: Alice in Chains - Jar of Flies EP -- obvious Damnwells - Bastards of the Beat -- cover and title Gathering - Mandylion -- band Green Milk From The Planet Orange - City Calls Revolution -- cover and titles King's X - Dogman -- heard of the band, got the yellow cover instead of green cover Meat Puppets - Too High to Die -- I have their second album Mellow - Another Mellow Spring -- heard Mellow off CQThe Slip - Live at Lupo's -- packaging Ulysses - 010 -- cover and packaging Wasn't able to find Under the Table and Dreaming, sorry. I did find a two-disc version of Mnwg for $2, but it was missing a CD. They also had some of the 90s Batman movie soundtracks and the Crow soundtrack, but I passed on those as well.

Eh, oh well. Jar of Flies for one buck is a great snag. One of my favorite AIC works.

Eh, oh well. Jar of Flies for one buck is a great snag. One of my favorite AIC works. I would have bought it this time. Really. So that just means I'll have to find it again. I did find out that my mom bought Listener Supported on DVD a while ago, and left it unwrapped, so I went ahead and brought it in my room to eventually watch it. Maybe.

Eh, that isn't the best live DVD. Good for hardcore fans, not so good for casual ones. Still, its worth a watch at some point. At least in my opinion...

Yeah, you said that about Listener Supported a while ago. I'll probably hold back a while on watching it, for reasons like time, wanting to watch other concert videos first and that the (Costco) label that stores print out on the DVD says "Lestener Supported".
